Yearlings make better financial sense because you can buy them from the sales ring as 1 year olds, at the same reasonable price you would pay for 2 year olds, begin training them immediately, and before you know it you have all the training histories you will ever need to kick start the new season like a champion. You can train them as hard as you like (it’s no crime to train your horses as hard as you like when you paid for them!) because that's how you build the most comprehensive training history the world has ever seen. Now that you can show off 20 training sessions in the auctions, the world is going to expect a comprehensive training history as the minimum requirement before buying horses. But this is not about selling horses because buying yearlings is the best decision you can make before the races begin next season.

Yearling Sale Details: 
- Yearlings will be available from 00:01 GMT on 12 July 2011 until 23:59 GMT on 31 July 2011. 
- The sales ring defaults to 2Y horses, remember to select the 1Y horse. 
- Yearlings have the same ability that they will have as 2Y horses. 
ie. Ageing from 1 to 2 years has no affect on the horses’ ability. 
- Yearlings are trained against 2Y training horses to gauge their abilities as a 2Y horse. 
- Yearlings become 2Y horses on the first day of the new season. 
- Yearlings can only enter races as 2Y horses in the new season. 
- Racing, Claiming, and Auctions are only available for horses aged 2-7 years.

THE CHAMPS ARE COMING!!! THE CHAMPS ARE COMING!!!

Only a couple of weeks to go until this season's Championship Finals. It is already shaping up to be one of the most interesting and unpredictable finals ever.

With only one race left in most divisions, many owners are scrambling to either get their horses in the finals, or insure that they don't miss the finals by failing to qualify at the last minute. There are still several outstanding runners that are still to trying to earn their way into the finals.

The contest among the owners has certainly gotten extremely interesting. CHRISMAN and BLACK LOTUS have been the dominant stables in the champs over the past few seasons, but up-and-coming stable TOCKYOCKY is making a push to be the top stable in the finals.

At the other end of the spectrum are the numerous owners (including yours truly) that are hoping to get some racing luck to get that all inclusive first Championship win.

This season's finales will mark the swan song for two great champions: CHRISMAN's AP EXECUTIONER and TRI M FENT's IRISH CREAM . Between them, these two great champions have earned over $47,000 and certainly stand to earn more in the Championship Finals. Not to be forgotten is another Champion KARL KHODER'S SECRET LEGEND who will also be making his final appearance.

At the other extreme is the Juvenile Stayer's Colt Division which has no less than 20 top notch runners who could still qualify for the finals. The final in that division promises to be a wide open affair!!

After the fields have been set and the racing surfaces announced we will have a detailed preview of every finals race.

Quick Overview of Championships

The Championship Series is the highlight of the racing season. 
The best horses and stables compete for victory in the Finals.
Enter into Qualifiers to earn qualifying points.
The top 14 horses as per the Standings will be automatically entered into the Finals.
There are Consolation races for some horses that do not make the Finals.
There is generally a Championship Series for each age group and at each distance group being Sprint, Classic or Stayers.

Championships in More Detail

Championship Qualifier races are scheduled over the horseracing season (4 months), over varied distances for each age category. The series culminates in a Championship Final which is held during the last week of every season. Big prize money is sponsored on both the Qualifying Races and the Championship Finals which is put up by Digiturf.com. 

To be eligible for Qualifying Races, your horse must have: 
• A minimum of 1 race win for 2yr olds, 2 race wins for 3 year olds and 5 wins for 4 to 7 year olds. 
• Paid the once-off supplementary fee (US$2.00 at purchase of horse, or US$50.00 at any other time). This will enable your horse to race in Qualifying races and Finals for its entire career.

How to Qualify for a Championship Final

The 14 horses that have accumulated the most points in the Qualifier races by the end of the season are automatically entered in the corresponding Championship Final race at no additional fee.

Each time your horse races in a Qualifier, it accumulates points toward qualifying for the Final.

A horse can participate in more than one Championship series and qualify for more than one Final.

Race your horse in as many Qualifier races as possible to ensure it makes the Final.

Championships Points Table

The Championship points system has been designed and implemented to give a fairer point allocation to horses entered in all Championship Series events.

This points system is particularly important for second instances of races so that horses entered in the first instance are not at a disadvantage as would be the case if fewer runners in a second instance earned the same points.

The table below shows the points that are allocated per race result according to the number of entries in the race:

Two points are allocated to every horse entered. These two points have been included in the table.

Rule on tie for 14th spot in a Championship Final

Where there are two horses that tie on points for 14th spot in a Championship Final, only one horse of the two can be selected to run in the Final. The following elimination factors then apply:

1) Points.
In the event that there are 2 horses with equal points, the system then looks at;

2) Number of qualifying races (the horse who got the points by running the least no of qualifiers goes through). 
If these are equal, then the system looks at;

3) Best Position (the horse that ran the best position in the qualifiers goes through).
If these are equal, then the system looks at;

4) Number of Wins (The horse that had the most number of wins in the qualifiers goes through).
If these are equal, then the system looks at;

5) Earnings (the horse with the most earnings goes through).

Championship Consolation Races

Horses that do not qualify for the Final are automatically entered into a Consolation race.  There are consolation races for each Championship Series.

Consolation races are sponsored with bonus credits and entrance is free.

The rules are as follows:

  • After the Finals have been declared, the next 14 qualifying horses by points will automatically be entered into the first instance of the Consolation race, while the following 14 qualifying horses will automatically be entered into the second instance, and so on.
  • Sponsorship amount is reduced for each subsequent instance of the Consolation races.
  • Consolation races will be set up at the beginning of a season but will only appear on the race calendar page on the same day as the corresponding Championship Final fields are declared.
  • Where a stable has more than 4 horses qualifying for the same Consolation, the horse/s with the lowest points from that stable will be placed into the next instance.
  • A horse must remain in an ‘Active’ status from Midnight (GMT) of the day prior to the running of the Consolation race or it will be rejected from the race

Bidding closes 24 hours after the Auction Entry has closed except when a bid is placed in the last 2 (two) minutes – it then extends for an additional 2 minutes until no further bids are placed within the last 2 minute extension.

All financial auction related transactions are conducted through your wallet. If you are bidding on a horse the money will be deducted from the funds available in your wallet. Always ensure you have sufficient funds in your wallet otherwise your bids will be rejected. Funds can be transferred between your account balance and auction wallet.

Bid increments are scaled according to the current bid as follows:
