Connect The Dots To Better Races!

June 2011

Hi Subscriber,

We’ve come to the conclusion, after dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s, that we are certifiably dotty! The races have been so busy that they’ve literally run us ragged. Everything has been about racing recently, from royal racing, race programming discussions and developmental enhancements but we think it’s all worth the effort if you think so too. See if you can connect the dots through this Tabloid to your next race and win...

Best wishes with all your upcoming races!

The Digiturf.com Team

Connect The Dots!

Connect the dots and then follow them when entering races to find your horse’s preferred races while it is eligible to enter them. Green dots indicate your previous races while blue dots highlight newer races for your consideration based on your horse’s current eligibility. It’s both smart and simple. Get connected!

Superfecta Champion Goes Viral

Ever since he took the first, second, third & fourth place in last season’s Kentucky Fillies Championship; Chrisman has been on everywhere except on CNN. He’s been featured on ESPN, Youtube, Facebook and Twitter- and who knows where else. Now you can read all about Chrisman in Digiturf.com’s forums!

Five Top Horses According To Black Lotus

When we asked multiple championship winner, Black Lotus, to rate the top five horses on Digiturf.com, he thought we were talking about his horses, except we meant excluding his horses. So, after knocking Sakura (JPN), King Domination and Ap Incredible off the list- who do you think are his next top horses?

The Mad Russian Revelation

The Mad Russian (he’s back again!) sparked an interesting discussion where trainers are talking about their personal lives outside of their stables. It’s an opportunity to get to know the people sharing your virtual community better; and it’s a great way to promote your stable!

Track Tabloid Competition Winners

The last Track Tabloid competition was about meeting the real players in the virtual horse racing community. FREE copy of TRAINING101: The most comprehensive guide to training, managing and racing your virtual horses to success!

FREE copy of TRAINING101: The most comprehensive guide to training, managing and racing your virtual horses to success!

Training is the foundation of a successful racing career. It is equally important for increasing fitness while identifying your horse’s racing preferences. Poorly trained horses lose races, waste money and make a complete mockery of the competition.

TRAINING101 is the most comprehensive guide to training, managing and racing your horses. It assumes you are already familiar with the How to Play guides and HELP sections; and moves forward with the fastest, most efficient training strategies ever for both newbie trainers and veterans alike.

If you’ve only bought one horse, or 101 horses, we suggest you master the fine art of training, because the sooner you finish your homework the quicker you can watch the races!

1: Train Smarter- Not Harder!

Your quickest training session ever averages 12 runs within minutes!

Step 1: Train once over 1400, 2200 & 2850 (same track & going).
Result: Preference for sprint, classic or stayer distances established.
NB: These lengths are not indicative of racing potential or track preference as performance may improve over different conditions but you may have an idea of preferred distances for your first nomination.

Step 2: Apply & assess impact of tack on raceable horses.
Alumites: Train 3X over preferred distances (same going).
Geld / Fillies Fuel: Train <90% fitness over different track surface.
Result: Horses trained to 90% fitness over general distances and assorted tracks.

ACTION: Enter a Maiden race based upon preferences

The following training cycle (50 -90%) can be completed over preferred tracks with varying goings to fine-tune preferences. Alternate runs with & without blinkers to ascertain if your horses like blinkers; eg. 1 x preferred track without blinkers. Repeat with blinkers. Repeat over another track.

Step 3: Create a new stable category for under-achievers.
Set training variables for tracks, distances & goings to ALL >> Run Barrier Races.
Using the BACK button, continue running barrier races until training session is over.
The system automatically trains over all tracks, distances & goings.
Result: Quicker fitness flips allows more time to manage better horses.

Step 4: Apply Auto-Trainer [Ta] over ALL variables <95%.
Continue training until first stabling fee. Remember to flip over 100%.
Auto-Trainer completes 90+ training variables. Effortless!
Result: Barrier victims exposed for bulk retirement.

ACTION: Horses with racing potential: Tack > Enter races > Keep

2: Forget Failures. Remember Results.

Analyze over 90 training results within a minute!

Click: BARRIER RACE HISTORY [B] >> EXPORT HISTORY.

Copy into an Excel document.
Sort lengths in descending order. The highest lengths in relation to fitness confirm preferences.
Sort track, distance & going alphabetically. Ensure you’ve covered all training variables.
Result: Racing strategy determined by horse’s preferences.

QuickTIP: Abbreviate preferences for future reference. Eg: 14/18 D < X ( 1400 to 1800M dirt tracks < X lengths).

Action: Save preferences to the following pages for quick reference, future races and easier stable management:-

Step 1: Horse Details Page.
You’ll like what you see whenever you mouse over your horse’s name.

Step 2: Horse preferences [Hp].
Your race entries ust got faster & smarter.
[Hp] determines programming so your horse gets the race it wants.

3: Exploit the Auto-Trainer to your advantage.

After establishing preferences, training becomes a fitness-boosting routine. We suggest activating the Auto-Trainer [Ta] to have your horses racing fit whenever you open your stable door. Less time spent training means more time for racing!

Get twice the results in half the time.
Set the Default settings to ALL (regardless of preferences)
Each training session will be run over different tracks which fine-tunes preferences down to the exact going.
Result: Over time you’ll have the most comprehensive training history; useful for identifying further preferences.
Periodically analyze results for a better understanding of your horse’s abilities & preferences.
Repeat as required, especially after age changes, when form drops or when evaluating new horses purchased through claimers & auctions.

4.Essential Reading:
For detailed information it is important that all trainers also read the Racing Explained guides, HELP, FAQs and the Glossary.

We interview Black Lotus after his filly, Sakura (Jpn), gets into the groove of championship horse racing.

The Black Lotus Championship Series Interview

Sakura (Jpn) gets into the groove of championship racing

A Black Lotus could be many things from a femizon, a clothing label or a gothic yoga studio but at Digiturf.com Black Lotus is actually the seven times championship winner in Digiturf.com’s $74,000 Championship Series- three of which he picked up last week; thanks to the collective efforts of Sakura (JPN), King Domination and Ap Incredible who won the Juvenile Sprint Championship, Saratoga Sprint Championship and the Triple Crown Classic Championship. Talk about a winning foursome with Black Lotus in the middle!

Championship Series interview with Black Lotus

What sparked your interest in virtual horse racing?
I am a horse racing fan and I played in many fantasy sports games before I joined this site. I think that is a good combination, and boy, this is by far the best fantasy game that I’ve ever played.

What do you look forward to most when playing on virtual horse racing?
I look forward to compete against other top players, and look forward to watch my horses run. It is very exciting, especially when my horses are doing well.

How does playing on virtual horse racing compare to real horse racing?
There are many unknown factors in real horses racing, and the general public only knows a few. Whereas in virtual horse racing, we are dealing with a lot less unknowns. We know the ability of our own horse and what level they should be based upon their TTs.

Tell us about your first winner and your other top horses.
I forgot which horse was my first winner. I started with a G2 stable so it was probably a G2 claimer. I have many good horses but I consider the quartet of King Domination, Secret Domination, Rusty Angel, and Domination Legend which I bought from Trezza Stables my top horses. Those four are some of the all-time best horses in digiturf history and I have a great pleasure racing them.

Tell us about your best win and why it meant so much.
My best win is definitely King Domination winning the Saratoga Sprint Championship this past season on his final chance before retirement. During his 6 yr old campaign, I expected him to compete on both the Sprint and the Classic Championship, but he drew 14th post on both races and was not a factor. I was so glad he won a championship with me before his retirement, against a very tough field including other Hall Of Fame horses like Ap Executioner, Irish Cream, Secret Legend, and Golden Lineage.

List some of your top achievements.
All championships are my top achievements. Other than that, I can think of winning 8 races a day an achievement. Even though some of the races are claiming races and small field sizes, it is still difficult to achieve.

What do you typically do before a big race?
Just make sure my horse is in top fitness I desire and have all their equipments on.

Tell us about your most memorable moments on virtual horse racing.
Winning my first championship. They always say winning the first one is most difficult. I totally agree. On many occasions before my first champ win, I had many tough luck losers that ran second or third. Ironically, my first few champ wins were not considered top horses in those races. Sometimes it is better lucky than good!

What are your goals for your future racing on virtual horse racing?
I hope one day I’ll have a homebred champion. All my champ wins so far are auction purchases. I am not a big ring buyer so that may not happen anytime soon.

What advice would you give to new virtual horse racing members?
Be patient, know where your horse belongs and place them right.

Name the best horse, in your opinion, belonging to a fellow member.
Right now I think Ap Executioner, Irish Cream, Secret Legend, and Golden Lineage are the best older horses. 3 yr old Toc Black Magic is a rising superstar as well.

What is your favorite real horse racing event?
Kentucky Derby and Breeders Cup.

Are you involved in real horse racing and if so in what capacity?
I am just a fan, but I have a dream to own and race a real horse in the future.

What are your goals for the future of your stable?
Just to maintain a self sufficient stable. After the retirement of King Domination, things will get tougher so I always remind myself to be more careful on my placements.

When we congratulate Black Lotus on winning three Championship Series it’s because his skill and determination deserve to be recognized but most importantly for inspiring future generations to raise the bar higher than winning just one championship. Even though winning one is tough enough!

Exclusive video & interview with Kentucky Superfecta winner on Digiturf.com

Chrisman's superfecta victory rocks the Kentucky Fillies!

Count those silks as four of Chrisman's horses cross the finish line!

Chrisman has accomplished more on Digiturf.com than what people thought was possible before he accomplished what wasn’t even considered to be possible. In fact, his latest accomplishment even overshadows the fact that he won five of the most competitive championship races in Digiturf.com’s highly competitive 30th Championship Series.

The highest ranking player in the online virtual horse racing community at Digiturf.com won the Saratoga Sprint Championship, Arlington Gold Cup, Kentucky Derby Classic, Juvenile Stayers and the Kentucky Fillies Classic Championship. Those five virtual races netted him US$5,000 within three days of virtual horseracing. Chrisman then proceeded to place in another eleven races with added cash sponsorships. You can call virtual horse racing online gaming or just horsing around but if you won US$5,000 you’d probably be calling your bank manager.

But the biggest talking point was how four of Chrisman’s virtual horses performed in the Kentucky Fillies Classic Championship because they didn’t just run- they won first, second, third and fourth position. It was virtually impossible but an elated Chrisman scored the first superfecta in the history of virtual horse racing.

It wasn’t an easy achievement by any stretch of the imagination as his competition included the likes of Big Shoe, Enzo Racing, Evil Racing Ltd, Jekegr Stables, Karl Khoder and MudFlaps, who’s horses in the Kentucky Fillies Classic Championship have won over US$82,332.62 and numerous other Championship titles previously, but on March 29, 2011 Chrisman prepared four of his horses to win everything in one race.

The Kentucky Fillies Classic was a 2400M dirt track with a fast going on the day of the race. There were ten other horses in the race, with stronger horses tipped to win, especially the big moneymakers like Domination Abi, Rolex Girl, Rusty Queen and Countess Bathory. Unbelievably Chrisman’s Macka Beast was the first horse to cross the finish line. Followed by his Doggy Blaster, Salty Girl and Queen's Jewel, winning US$1,000, US$500, US$300 & US$200 respectively!

Chrisman admitted that he hoped he’d win but was in a state of shock after he’d won the first superfecta on Digiturf.com. MudFlaps said he’d be in shock if it were anyone else- Chrisman is a living Digi legend.

How does Chrisman prepare for a Championship race? He says it’s a trade secret!

Chrisman’s Kentucky Fillies Classic Championship Superfecta!

How does Chrisman prepare for a Championship race? He says it’s a trade secret!

But he did set aside some time to answer a few questions!

Congratulations on winning five Championship Series; you took the Arlington Gold Cup, Juvenile Stayers Championship, Kentucky Derby Classic, Kentucky Fillies Classic and even the Saratoga Sprint- and then you scored the superfecta in the Kentucky Fillies Classic Championship 4-7Y F.

You had an incredible Championship Series, what sparked your interest in virtual horse racing?
Can't even remember exactly. But i'm on board now and loving it.

What do you look forward to most when playing on virtual horse racing?
Mostly the competition with other members. Very tough community!

How does playing on virtual horse racing compare to real horse racing?
Not sure, from my angle. Only played real horse racing as a bettor. Owning and racing your own virtual horse is better experience imo.

Tell us about your first winner and your other top horses.
My first winner? OK. I do remember...Island Charm (RacID=632C0C9) a Maiden NPL3R. I was really due! LOL.

Tell us about your best win and why it meant so much.
Drum Song winning my first champ race - Arlington Gold Cup-C (I have won 7 including the last 6) Something about the first of anything that sticks out. Long story short, that race is my most watch replays.

How did that superfecta happen in Kentucky Fillies Classic Championship 4-7Y F (March 2011)?
For the most part, pure luck...every horse in that race had a very good shot of winning. You do have to be in it to win it tho and you have to cover the Q's to get there.

What do you typically do before a big race?
Mostly verify equipment, proper fitness...much more that typical.

Tell us about your most memorable moments on virtual horse racing.
The Kentucky-F Super is lingering. My first champ win is up there too.

What are your goals for your future racing on virtual horse racing?
Continue racing and hopefully grow as the game and competition dictates.

What advice would you give to new virtual horse racing members?
Stay out of my way! J/K. Develop own chart from experience and only use others as a reference or starting point. Get a good feel for the numbers especially before throwing away horses.

Name the best horse, in your opinion, belonging to a fellow member.
Right now I would have to say Irish Cream (Tri M Fent Stables)...he had beaten AP Exterminator enough already.

What is your favourite real horse racing event?
The Belmont Stakes. (The entire Triple Crown really)

Are you involved in real horse racing and if so in what capacity?
No...just bet on the major events and sometimes dabble on weekends.

What are your goals for the future of your stable?
Steady as she goes...

Online horse racing became a global phenomenon when Digiturf.com simulated the world’s first race horse in 2001, and challenged the horse racing community to compete against online gamers and compare the difference between simulated and real-life horse racing.

A decade has passed with over 465,000 successful races running while Digiturf.com has paid out over $17,354,000 to the winners. In celebration of Digiturf.com's ongoing success and longevity, a ten day virtual horse racing extravaganza has been scheduled which includes over 400 tribute races and $20,000 existing sponsorships plus a chance to win $2,000 in bonus prizes. There are 10 Grade 1, 10 Grade 1 Low, 10 Grade 2, and 10 Grade 3 10th Anniversary races scheduled per day, over the first 10 days in May 2011.

There’s no disputing the fact that Digiturf.com has created a unique opportunity for everyone to race their own horses online for both fun and money. Virtual horse racing on Digiturf.com has also become one of the fastest growing sports on the Internet. In addition to competing in the comprehensive race program players can train their horses, re-watch their races through an interactive 3D RaceViewer, buy and sell their horses through public auctions and even compete in three seasonal Championship Series worth $99,000.

Winning big money is obviously a big draw card with all horse racing events but Digiturf.com attributes its success to the cutting-edge CGI technology which is used to bring the traditional sport of kings online to the masses through a sophisticated gaming interface while still retaining the skills of horsemanship. An added advantage is the vibrant online community created through the public and private messaging platforms and discussions boards.

Digiturf.com is extending an invitation to all its valued members to join the celebration of its 10th Anniversary!
