Get qualified for your virtual horse racing Championships. It starts today and it starts here!

Quick Overview of Championships

The Championship Series is the highlight of the racing season.
The best horses and stables compete for victory in the Finals.
Enter into Qualifiers to earn qualifying points.
The top 14 horses as per the Standings will be automatically entered into the Finals.
There are Consolation races for some horses that do not make the Finals.
There is generally a Championship Series for each age group and at each distance group being Sprint, Classic or Stayers.

Navigate to Championship Races

Championship races are found under Races à Championship Series.  This lists the Final race and Qualifying races for each Championship.
You can also filter Future Races under Races for Qualifying races or Championship Final races.
You can view the current points standings by selecting this link once you have selected any Qualifying or Final race.
Previous Championship winners can be found under Leaderboards, Championship Winners.

Championships in More Detail

Championship Qualifier races are scheduled over the horseracing season (4 months), over varied distances for each age category. The series culminates in a Championship Final which is held during the last week of every season. Big prize money is sponsored on both the Qualifying Races and the Championship Finals which is put up by Digiturf.com.

To be eligible for Qualifying Races, your horse must have:
• A minimum of 1 race win for 2yr olds, 2 race wins for 3 year olds and 5 wins for 4 to 7 year olds.
• Paid the once-off supplementary fee (US$2.00 at purchase of horse, or US$50.00 at any other time). This will enable your horse to race in Qualifying races and Finals for its entire career.

How to Qualify for a Championship Final

The 14 horses that have accumulated the most points in the Qualifier races by the end of the season are automatically entered in the corresponding Championship Final race at no additional fee.

Each time your horse races in a Qualifier, it accumulates points toward qualifying for the Final.

A horse can participate in more than one Championship series and qualify for more than one Final.

Race your horse in as many Qualifier races as possible to ensure it makes the Final.

Championships Points Table

The Championship points system has been designed and implemented to give a fairer point allocation to horses entered in all Championship Series events.

This points system is particularly important for second instances of races so that horses entered in the first instance are not at a disadvantage as would be the case if fewer runners in a second instance earned the same points.

The table below shows the points that are allocated per race result according to the number of entries in the race:

Two points are allocated to every horse entered. These two points have been included in the table.

Rule on tie for 14th spot in a Championship Final

Where there are two horses that tie on points for 14th spot in a Championship Final, only one horse of the two can be selected to run in the Final. The following elimination factors then apply:

1) Points.
In the event that there are 2 horses with equal points, the system then looks at;

2) Number of qualifying races (the horse who got the points by running the least no of qualifiers goes through).
If these are equal, then the system looks at;

3) Best Position (the horse that ran the best position in the qualifiers goes through).
If these are equal, then the system looks at;

4) Number of Wins (The horse that had the most number of wins in the qualifiers goes through).
If these are equal, then the system looks at;

5) Earnings (the horse with the most earnings goes through).

Championship Consolation Races

Horses that do not qualify for the Final are automatically entered into a Consolation race.  There are consolation races for each Championship Series.

Consolation races are sponsored with bonus credits and entrance is free.

The rules are as follows:

  • After the Finals have been declared, the next 14 qualifying horses by points will automatically be entered into the first instance of the Consolation race, while the following 14 qualifying horses will automatically be entered into the second instance, and so on.
  • Sponsorship amount is reduced for each subsequent instance of the Consolation races.
  • Consolation races will be set up at the beginning of a season but will only appear on the race calendar page on the same day as the corresponding Championship Final fields are declared.
  • Where a stable has more than 4 horses qualifying for the same Consolation, the horse/s with the lowest points from that stable will be placed into the next instance.
  • A horse must remain in an ‘Active’ status from Midnight (GMT) of the day prior to the running of the Consolation race or it will be rejected from the race.

The Digiturf Team

2010 Above Average Horses

The top 20 horses won 39.5% of their races and $6,800 each in 2010. Interestingly, while Ap Executioner was the most successful horse with earnings over $10,200 and both the Triple Crown Sprint and Saratoga Sprint Championship titles but G3 Sofa King Drunk may be the best horse of all. Want to see how- and compare your horses

2010 Above Average Trainers

The top twenty highest trainers averaged $59K in 2010. Unbelievably, Chrisman earned over $80K each season. The average players running over 1,000 races on Digiturf in 2010 won 16% of their races and won over $1,7M on Digiturf.com. Want to see who won a staggering 25.8% of all his races- and how you compare?

2010 Above Average Profits

2,285 horses were auctioned in 2010, averaging $127.50 per horse. 54 horses sold for $1,000 and higher, some were even sold twice, while Secret Legend sold for over $6,000. Secret Legend is the second most expensive horse in the history of virtual horse racing. Clearly, someone is making money with their horses both in the races and the auctions.

2010 Above Average Awards

Ever wonder who were the top ten trainers of the year, or how you compared as a trainer? The Race Programmer poured through every single race since the beginning of time to identify the best trainers of each year since 2001. These are the trainers who made Digiturf great, and you’re leading the next generation in their footsteps.

How Sofa King Drunk has all the other horses on Digiturf whipped!

Good breeding counts for a lot, it's one of those things that determines our draw in life but it is also beyond our control. Some horses are born with great genes and the determination to win every race at all costs; this is especially true in Digiturf's Championship Series where we see 2010’s juvenile champions performing with distinction: i.e. Ap Godzilla, Bigmomma, Boost Your Stable, Dakota Princess, Domination's End, Donnie Brosco, Frozen Dub, Golden Lineage, Jetting Judy, Operation Ivy, Perfect Sakura, Pool Party, Priscus Of Rome, Rumblin Ryan, Secret Mistress, Secret Queen, Secret Smash and The Situation. But, what about the smaller, less known horses, who denied the benefit of good genes and superior breeding still perform beyond their inbred (or lack thereof) lack of potential and succeed with the spirit of a champion? Despite his oxymoronic name, Sofa King Drunk, stands head and shoulders above better horses without making an ass of himself.

Admittedly, everybody has a place in their stable for horses like Golden Lineage and Secret Domination in their stable, but we think that virtually everybody will find a place in their heart for the little G3 monster that ran faster than anybody thought he could. When it comes to achieving the highest wins percentage of the year Sofa King Drunk has all the other horses on Digiturf whipped. He won 52% of his races.

Want to see how the other horses performed? Yes!

Before you get the horse, learn what to do with it from Digiturf's best trainers!

What some rookies said when they first joined Digiturf is probably something you said yourself.

What was my personal highlight from the previous season? I would have to say just the fun of racing! I loved and looked forward to jumping online each day to watch my races and plan out and strategize for the next day....it was tons of fun! Shore Stables

First of all, as a race fan and chance taking enthusiast I think you own and manage a great game. In a game such as this it must be a constant battle to try and maintain the contentment of all owners/trainers so a big well done for your efforts all these years. I am quite new to the game and still very much learning but some factors stand out already, some good and some bad. I think your decision to ask members for opinions is a great move, thanks for listening Digi!! Sleepy Valley Racing

My best experience has been a couple of things; the forums I really like the conversations in them, and also the race layout I really like the looks of the races when I view them, I expect I will be a long time digi racer as I really enjoy the competition from across the globe, where else can you race horses with people from across the globe, I love it, see you on the track! Martys Barn

Some advice is to understand this isn’t a quick get rich adventure. Learn the numbers IMO the best way is to claim an accomplished runner, see for yourself what it takes to win at what levels. Placement of your horse is paramount. Be patience. Give yourself a budget per season. You’ll need to go the ring or spend at auction if your intentions are to bag a potential champ you won’t find them any place else Stay your course ~cAw kAw~ Crow King

Best advice is to take it slow, read the articles for new stables in the forums, claim an inexpensive horse to learn what TTs are necessary to be successful at different levels but before claiming the horse research its background. Claim a horse that has earned some money and had some success. When you are ready buy a horse in an auction or if you have bonus credits- HOT THE RING! Most of all, have some fun!!! Bigbob

As I am a fairly new player my best advice would be to first understand that you will not win every race! Purchase claiming horses and learn how, where and when to run your horses. Once you have a better idea of how it all works additional money invested will go further in the auction then it will in the sales ring. Train your horse thoroughly to understand what your horse likes best. Get to know some of the other owners and be active in the forum competitions. Last but not least....... Have Fun! Tockyocky Racing

There's nothing like winning your first stakes race. Even though it wasn't a lot of prize money I still really enjoyed my first win and it only fuelled my ambition to try and master this game. My first weekly win in the tipping comp was up there too and for any newbies this is a great place to learn about the better horses in claimers to potentially help build your stable and to pick up some bonus credits to help your stable along. The community here is a good one and they aren't afraid to help each other out and that all contributes to a great racing experience which ultimately makes it fun. Beer Baron Racing

My best advice is to get rid of your G3 horses as soon as you get familiar with training and entering your horses. Next, claim two G1 colts, and two G1 fillies. Four horses is enough. See if you can do better than the previous trainer, if you can't, try to dump the horse back into a claiming race and hope someone thinks they can do better than you and claims it away. Repeat the process. There's no need to have a bunch of horses if you can't pick one that will be profitable for you in the long run. Who wants to maintain a stable of 30 horses that just cost you money every month? Stay away from the sales ring, buy a lotto ticket instead. Use the auction ring if you can't find an acceptable horse to claim. Perfect Knockers

My personal highlight was winning my first added money race...the single most important issue that needs to be addressed is a very poor Race Program. The current RP has created a situation that many horses are completely unraceable. In my case all the low gr 1 108's. I am done racing them and plan on removing them from my barn soon. The solution is to take a look how real racing handles the issue. Races with earning caps...races are NW of X$$ in the last 5. Races that exclude horses that have won X $ or X races. This needs to be fixed in a hurry. Yes, there are people that will never be happy and I do understand that. But to me the biggest weakness of the game is a terrible RP. It needs a knowledgeable racing person that is "hands on". Clearly right now alot of the program is being computer generated. If the game is to survive it needs a signifcant improvement in the RP. Kcs Stables

When I joined everyone's advice was to read Roscoe's 101 in the Beginner's Forum. Without doubt the best advice I got and so I read and re-read Roscoe's advice. In fact I saved my own copy and also added any other comments from other players in the same forum to really give myself a guide on how to get started. The other big thing is patience which can be tough, especially for me but it's so true. You have to wait for the right race, the right conditions and you need to be prepared to set out a budget and work within that budget before you can start to see any real profits if that's what you are trying to achieve. But most of all you need to look at it as a hobby, perhaps an expensive one depending on your goals or even a business. The saying goes that you need to spend money to make money, but be careful because most businesses fall over in their first year, do you really want to be one of those statistics? So patience and informed decision making is the order of the day and don't be afraid to lean on the vets through the mentoring program as they can and will help you all the way. Beer Baron Racing

What was my personal highlight from the previous season? This past season I moved up to G1 racing full time. And I pulled a strong horse from the Sales Ring that changed everything. Great White north isn;t the best, but he can compete at so many distances that it's hard to figure out where to place him. But he has won some great money and that has helped me to grow my stable. So the highlight for me was to particpiate in Champs Week. I was a nervous wreck for weeks. I can;t remember being so excited, nervous and anxious. What a great experience. I wrote an article about it that is posted in the Forum.

I joined in late January-early February and raced in Grade 3 for most of the first season, trying to gain experience. By the end of March, I was moving into Grade 2 racing. All along, I wanted to be in Grade 1 racing - where the big boys played. So my plans were always to build, build, build in order to take the permanent step. Along the way, I had to spend some money to get horses. I think I planned it well and built relationships that allowed me to add some quality horses at "value" prices. So now, I am involved in G1 and have some strong horses that can compete. My wins, race totals and money earned have taken a dramatic turn upwards in the past 2-3 months. So I am happy that I have become a major player (without having a major-sized stable) It was always my hope that Digi saw me as the type of owner that is committed to the game, willing to spend some money and take some chances, and will be around for a long time. Maple Leaf Farms

Start racing racing virtual horses- they won over $1,700,000 on Digiturf in 2010!

You can measure success by many standards, including money, position, power and even championship titles, but the one defining factor that levels the playing field is the runs/wins percentage. Some players run more races so they win more money but not necessarily more races, other players get better horses that can beat the competition on from both sides of the tracks, but it is a special kind of trainer who can keeps his expenses low and his wins high- and they deserve to be acknowledged for their astute placement and racing prowess.

The average player running over 1,000 races on Digiturf in 2010 won 16% of their races while accumulating a collective $1,700,000. The top twenty highest earners averaged $59,800 in 2010 while Chrisman averaged $80,000 each season. What is really interesting is to compare your wins/runs percentage against those who you think are better or should know better.

It should be mentioned, that the more races one runs the harder it becomes to main a high wins percentage but Maradona Racing’s staggering 25.8% runs/wins percentage deserves a rapturous round of applause. In fact, anybody who can compete in over 1,000 races a year deserves one too! Want to see who won what in 2010 on Digiturf?
