Train your horses to win their races- not for feeding stray cats!

Mr. Whiskers can find his own food tomorrow because here's the truth about training horses!

TRAINING101: The Essential Training Guide.
Feb 17, 07

Training is the foundation of a successful racing career. It is equally important for increasing fitness while identifying your horse’s racing preferences. Poorly trained horses lose races, waste money and make a complete mockery of competitive racing.

TRAINING101 is the most comprehensive guide to training, managing and racing your horses. It assumes you are already familiar with the How To Play guide and HELP; and moves forward with the fastest, most efficient training strategies ever for both newbie trainers and veterans alike.

If you’ve only bought one horse, or 101 horses, we suggest you master the fine art of training, because the sooner you finish your homework the quicker you can watch the races!

1: Train Smarter- Not Harder!

Your quickest training session ever averages 12 runs within minutes!

Step 1: Train once over 1400, 2200 & 2850 (same track & going).
Result: Preference for sprint, classic or stayer distances established.
NB: These lengths are not indicative of racing potential or track preference as performance may improve over different conditions but you may have an idea of preferred distances for your first nomination.

Step 2: Apply & assess impact of tack on raceable horses.
Alumites: Train 3X over preferred distances (same going).
Gelding: Train <90% fitness over different track surface.
Result: Horses trained to 90% fitness over general distances and assorted tracks.

ACTION: Nominate into a Maiden race based upon preferences.

The following training cycle (50 -90%) can be completed over preferred tracks with varying goings to fine-tune preferences. Alternate runs with & without blinkers to ascertain if your horses like blinkers; eg. 1 x preferred track without blinkers. Repeat with blinkers. Repeat over another track.

Step 3: Create a new stable category for under-achievers.
Set training variables for tracks, distances & goings to ALL >> Run Barrier Races.
Using the BACK button, continue running barrier races until training session is over.
The system automatically trains over all tracks, distances & goings.
Result: Quicker fitness flips allows more time to manage better horses.

Step 4: Apply Auto-Trainer [Ta] over ALL variables <95%.
Continue training until first stabling fee. Remember to flip over 100%.
Auto-Trainer completes 90+ training variables. Effortless!
Result: Barrier victims exposed for bulk retirement.

ACTION: Horses with racing potential: Tack > Nominate > Keep!

2: Forget Failures. Remember Results.

Analyze over 90 training results within a minute!

Click: BARRIER RACE HISTORY [B] >> EXPORT HISTORY.

Copy into an Excel document.
Sort lengths in descending order. The highest lengths in relation to fitness confirm preferences.
Sort track, distance & going alphabetically. Ensure you’ve covered all training variables.
Result: Racing strategy determined by horse’s preferences.

QuickTIP: Abbreviate preferences for future reference.
Eg: 14/18 D < X (1400 to 1800M dirt tracks < X lengths)

Action: Save preferences to the following pages for quick reference, future races and easier stable management:-

Step 1: Horse Details Page.
You’ll like what you see whenever you mouse over your horse’s name.

Step 2: Horse preferences [Hp].
Your nominations just got faster & smarter.
[Hp] determines programming so your horse gets the race it wants.

Step 3: Auto-Nomination [Na].
The ultimate stable management tool when you don’t have time to nominate your horses.
Your horse’s preferences, your decision, [Na]’s responsibility!

3: Exploit the Auto-Trainer to your advantage.

After establishing preferences, training becomes a fitness-boosting routine. We suggest activating the Auto-Trainer [Ta] to have your horses racing fit whenever you open your stable door. Less time spent training means more time for racing!

Get twice the results in half the time.
Set the Default settings to ALL (regardless of preferences)
Each training session will be run over different tracks which fine-tunes preferences down to the exact going.
Result: Over time you’ll have the most comprehensive training history; useful for identifying further preferences.
Periodically analyze results for a better understanding of your horse’s abilities & preferences.
Repeat as required, especially after age changes, when form drops or when evaluating new horses purchased through claimers & auctions.

Essential Reading:
For detailed information it is important that all trainers also read the Racing Explained guides, HELP, FAQs and the Glossary.

When Hollywood produced a movie about Secretariat winning the Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing everyone started questioning when Annie’s Dangerous victory would also make it onto the big screen.

The world premiere of Secretariat, the 1973 Triple Crown winner and the woman behind his success garnered mixed reviews but only because everyone is already anticipating the release of “Samster: The Movie!”

Secretariat features a remarkable cast that includes Diane Lane, John Malkovich and Dylan Walsh and several horses. The luminous Diane Lane delivers a remarkable performance as housewife and mother, Penny Chenery (Diane Lane), who agrees to take over her ailing father's stables, despite her lack of horse-racing knowledge. (I know you know where I’m going with this!). Anyhow, Penny manages to navigate the male-dominated business, ultimately fostering the first Triple Crown winner in 25 years.

The press junket use the word ‘remarkable’ a lot but what I find truly remarkable is the remarkable resemblance between the other Triple Crown Winner, Annies’ Dangerous. Now that’s a story that deserves to be told.

Samster: The Movie!; featuring the remarkable Samster, a housewife and mother, Samster (Samster) agrees to take over her husband's stable, despite her lack of horse-racing knowledge. Anyhow, Samster manages to navigate the male-dominated business of virtual horse racing on Digiturf.com, ultimately fostering the first Triple Crown winner in 25 years.

Samster agreed to an interview shortly after winning her 9,000th race on Digiturf.com.

Clearly, she’s reluctant of any media attention but she remains both gracious and cordial. She wears an elegant striped silk blouse in emerald green and a peculiar shade of caterpillar yellow, which she’s paired with a simple string of pearls which she fidgets with whenever she’s considering her answers. The Queen of Digiturf measures the weight of every word because if anything she says is going to be misconstrued it’s going to be in the forums.

Samster says, “Reaching 9,000 wins… Although it's a nice landmark, my husband and I would rather think of 10,000 as a truer more meaningful achievement, it has a nicer ring to it.”

“The most challenging obstacle for reaching 9,000 wins was to continue to maintain your stable, my husband and I consider Samster Stables to be strictly a blue collar operation that must continue to chug along, through thick and thin without investing new money, and the only way to achieve this goal is to never go stagnant even if it means just claiming an occasional horse or two.”

“The advice I would give the continuous stream of new Digiturfers is to learn all aspects of the game before investing big money and then they must decide what you want to achieve personally playing this challenging game. There are endless possibilities with grade 1, grade 2 and grade 3 horses and players no matter how big or small their budget is must find their own niche and goals, not everyone needs to be in the top fifty to have fun playing.”

“I know many players with grade 2 stables having the time of their life and enjoying the game on a tight budget although I personally choose to play the grade 1 part of the game exclusively because as the infamous bank robber Willy Sutton quoted in the fifty's "that's where the money is!"”

“As far as how to celebrate achievements such as 9,000 wins etc I would have to leave that to Digiturf’s hierarchy to make those decisions but long term achievements are going to be quite rare due to the time and dedication needed. The game has many peaks and valleys and many players never make it past the first valley...”

A discreetly dressed maid enters the room and quietly informs Samster that an uninvited guest, identifying herself only as Ms. Fitzgerald has arrived. Samster rises to attention, smoothing out any creases in her silks before reaching behind her chaise longue to extract the biggest AK47 one has ever seen. She cocks it with a smile as she excuses herself, explaining she has some business to attend to.

Without saying a word, the interview is over. I’m left wondering how Samster will approach her 10,000th win when I realize the maid was instructed to watch that I don’t touch any of the silverware. It’s time to leave.

There’s a provisional copy of the script titled: ”Samster:The Movie!”. Negotiations have stalled unless Disney can get Tina Fey to portray Samster’s dramatic triumph in the world of virtual horse racing. Adam Sandler has been chosen to play her husband.

Annie's Dangerous Goes Triple The Distance To Crown Samster Queen

The Queen of Digiturf's ESPN review is something to tweet about!

The Queen of Digiturf saddles up for her 9,000th on Digiturf.com Today

The Queen of virtual horse racing has made history so many times that even historians anticipate her future races; and she is on the threshold of making history again as she is expected to win her 9,000th race on Digiturf.com this week.

Samster has enjoyed unparalleled success on Digiturf.com, she has participated in 50,800 virtual races, won over $615,000.00 (US) and she has collected over 22 championship trophies; but her biggest accomplishment to date was winning the Virtual Triple Crown of Virtual Horse Racing. The Samster stable is held in the highest regard not only for its stature in the virtual horse racing community but also for the dignity in which it conducts itself.

Samster's stable was not an immediate success when she joined the virtual horse racing community in February 2003 through ESPN; her stable was an unassuming one that seemed to produce more donkeys than thoroughbreds - but Samster said she would rather get mad than quit so she studied every aspect of the game. One of her best decisions was to concentrate on racing fillies rather than colts; Samster started racing fillies with such success that she was lauded as the First Lady of virtual horse racing.

Anyone can be successful in virtual horse racing if they apply themselves because ultimately even at its most simplest level it is really a game of skill. You can even make a lot of money on Digiturf.com because in addition to the stakes that can be won, Digiturf.com adds over $900,000.00 (US) in sponsorships to the annual race program. No previous horse racing experience is necessary because the site offers a comprehensive help section and personalized support that will take you from rookie to champion in the time it takes to saddle your horses. Samster has credited the help section with being one of her first steps to victory -- but she is also a big fan of the sponsored Grade 1 races.

The only Triple Crown Winner in the history of Digiturf.com earned over US$18,700.

Horse racing enthusiasts are initially attracted to the sponsorships -- and obviously winning money is big on Digiturf.com, but there is an unspoken rule between players that you need to win a Championship Series title to establish yourself as a master of the game. The Championship Series on Digiturf.com is huge: three days of non-stop virtual racing over eighteen tracks with countless consolation races - and it is worth over worth over $100,000.00 (US). It is extremely competitive to say the least, and it is not for the faint hearted.

Samster approaches a challenge like a predator stalks its prey: methodically. But there was one obstacle between her and her first championship trophy: her best filly, Annie's Dangerous, had previously displayed incredible potential in her Qualifiers as a juvenile but nothing that translated well in the Championship Series Finals - but Samster persisted with Annie's Dangerous. She was able to qualify for all the Triple Crown Championship races.

The Triple Crown Championships are the ultimate races for any horse owner. Winning one Triple Crown Championship is an accomplishment within its own right, but winning all three championships over consecutive days is virtually impossible, even in virtual racing. A Triple Crown victory almost implies that you descended from royalty, and possibly even the gods, because winning a Triple Crown is about as easy as trying to bottle lightning.

On November 27, 2003, Annie's Dangerous won her first championship title in the Triple Crown Sprint Championship. The following day she won the Triple Crown Classic Championship. Unbelievably, on the third day Annie's Dangerous won the Triple Crown Stayers Championship to rapturous applause as she became the first winner of the Virtual Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Racing. It was a phenomenal accomplishment that has never been repeated; neither online at Digiturf.com nor in in real-life horse racing when Nijinsky won the Triple Crown in 1970.

Virtual horse racing fever captured the world's imagination. Even Bill Finley from NY Times expressed his disbelief that a virtual horse could earn US$6,000.00 when he interviewed Samster on Sirius XM Radio. Ever gracious, the Queen of virtual horse racing corrected Bill, confirming that while Annie's Dangerous had won $6,000.00 (US) in Digiturf.com's Triple Crown Championships -- her filly had actually won close to $20,000.00 (US) before she was retired from active racing. Samster even convinced the esteemed Bill Finley to try his hand at virtual horse racing. Ironically, despite her incredible achievements on Digiturf.com, Samster admits she still loves winning the small races as much as she does the big ones.

Samster is expected to win her 9,000th race on Digiturf.com within the next 24 hours- now that is something to get excited about.

Now that's something to tweet about!

18 Championships, 900 Entries, $76,000 Sponsorships, One Digiturf! This was yesterday ... see what comes tomorrow!

The virtual horse racing community just passed the middle of the 29th season with 900 runs through 100 qualifiers. Spectators are already expecting thrilling Championship Finals in November; and with over $78,000 at stake one can expect the competition to start heating as more contenders entered the fray.

Even though horses need a minimum of two qualifier runs to participate in either the Championships or Consolation races, and there is still two months to go, here’s a breakdown of the trainers who have gone beyond participation directly into the Winner’s Circle.

Chrisman takes the lead with 16 Qualifier wins for the season, followed by Mckinleys’ eleven. Karl Khoder is coming in third with 8 Qualifier wins to his credit for the season.

Cepat Kaya, Evil Racing Ltd & Inxs have stacked seven wins each, Black Lotus, Filante Stables & Jekegr Stables have struck success six times while Tri M Fent Stables is the only stable with five Qualifier wins to his credit this season.

DOC MDTERPS, Pokerstars, Sunny Future & WORLDWATER STABLES have enjoyed three victories each, Bigbob, Cmr Racing, Fullhouse, Gnb Racing, Oto Stables Inc, Samster & Whymea Farms gone for double duty victory while Captinj, Maple Leaf Farms, Maradona Racing, The Barbs & AP822 have each enjoyed one qualifier win this season- with time to run at least another Qualifier and crack a nod for the Finals.

You only need 2 Qualifying runs to qualify for the Championship Finals or the Consolation races, so the only question that remains, is how many of your horses will qualify for at least one of them.

Cannibalizing The Tipping Competition - sink your teeth into this before it closes @ 15:00 GMT!

Cannibalizing The Tipping Competition

The Digiturf.com Championship Series is so highly competitive that for many trainers it is a rite of passage that defines their character and cements their reputation in the community, so you don’t mess with their horses, you don’t tap them on the shoulder for their attention and you don’t dare suggest that another trainer’s horse has a good shot at the title- unless you know both trainers equally well, in which case you feign an inexplicable case of Kuru disease and maintain a low profile during the Championship Series.

This isn’t always possible because on Digiturf.com there are so many fantastic horses available that most of them (okay we said it!) have incredibly close shots at their respective Championship Series titles, notwithstanding the fact that most trainers are Digiturf.com are an even tempered amiable bunch that you’re likely to be best friends with everyone but during a Championship Series your loyalties better be clean-cut otherwise you could easily ruin a friendship. During a Championship Series your allegiance is just as important as the title in contention.

This is not one of those times where you put your money where your mouth is; in fact you keep your mouth shut but put your money in the Tipping competition. Digiturf.com never divulges the details of your entry so you can always blame someone else’s horses if your tipping selection doesn’t net you the biggest pool of cash and bonus credits… and you keep recycling that story to everyone you know who asks you if you tipped any of their horses.

Did you know that the more entries there are in the Championship Series Tipping competition the bigger the prize? And even better than just winning bonus credits you will win the cash? And while you might say you can spot a champion by its first training run we say you should put your money where your mouth is and enter the Championship Series competition today before it closes at 15:00 GMT.

The Digiturf.com Team

Did you know: we don’t take a single penny for managing the Championship Series Tipping Competition because we do it out of the goodness of our hearts- and before you ever use Kuru disease as an excuse for anything you should know it is only caused by cannibalism!
