Big Bob reviews the the final field for the SARATOGA SPRINT-COLTS!

SARATOGA SPRINT-COLTS

Distance 1400 Track England Yielding

GOLDEN LINEAGE(PARIS HOUSE) - Golden Lineage has been supremely dominant this season. In many races, he has looked like a man against boys. This is the final championship race of his outstanding career, and he looks primed to go out like the champion that he is.

COLT OF ARMS (KARL KHODER) Classy colt is one of the few horses to beat Golden Lineage this season. But his best distance has always been 1200. He does show the same level of performance at 1400. He needed a firm track to have any chance at an upset and didn't get it. .

TOC BLACK MAGIC (BLACK LOTUS) On a yielding track, this is the guy who can pull off an upset. He won last season's Triple Crown Sprint in the mud. Big mid-season pick-up by the Lotus barn should be primed for a big race.

BOB'S BIG BOY(BIGBOB) He lost all chance in last season's Triple Crown Sprint when he was sent out without shoes! He has had a run of poor racing luck this season, and that continued with a yielding surface for the finals.

AP TOTAL CHAOS(BLACK LOTUS) He had a big 2nd on August 20th to Golden Lineage at today's distance . Came back to run a nice 3rd later in the season at 1200. Both races were on fast tracks, and today's yielding turf course is not to his liking.

RITCHIES TITANIC(COLWELL'S END) -Late blooming 4 year old is in his first final. He ran a big 2nd to Golden Lineage in the final qualifier. He also ran a nice 3rd at this distance to Golden Lineage on August 20th with John Stewart aboard. Both were on a fast track. He would have had a serious shot with another surface.

DIAMOND CROWN(KARL KHODER) -He finished 4th at 1200 in last season's Sprint Finals, and has had a couple of solid efforts this season. He ran a good 3rd to Colt of Arms at 1200 and 4th to Golden Lineage at the same distance. Both were on fast tracks. Historically, all of his best efforts have been at 1200, so he will have to prove he can put in a big effort at this distance.

AP PUNISHER(FOGGYDAN) His made the finals thanks to a 3rd place finish in the last qualifier. That race was at 1400 on a fast track, and he benefitted from a great ride by Jack Ford. His chances would have improved on a firm or good track.

COUNT DRAKULA(CHRISMAN) -He has had some success this season in Open Handicaps, but his best effort in the qualifiers was a 5th place finish with Jack Ford aboard at today's distance. You can never count out a horse from the Chrisman Barn, but he will need a lot of racing luck for an in-the-money finish.

JACK T RIPPER(EVIL RACING LTD) -Lightly raced 7 year old came 3rd several seasons back in the Triple Crown Final at 1400 on a soft track. This season he won the 2nd division of the November 17th qualifier on a fast track, and came 2nd at 1600 to Golden Lineage.

RUSTY'S SECRET(KARL KHODER) - Finished 4th in the same Triple Criwn Sprint in which Jack T Ripper ran 3rd.He has a 3rd on a good track at 1600 and a 4th at 1400 on a fast track. Part of a solid 3 horse Khoder Entry.

LOVE GENERATION(BLACK LOTUS) -Squeezed into the finals thanks to a 2nd place finish in the 2nd division of the November 17th qualifier. That race was at 1400 on a fast track. His best chance would have been a good or firm turf course.

MEGA TSUNAMI(DIME A DOZEN) -This tough old campaigner is really more of a classic horse than a sprinter. Had a good 3rd in the mud at 1200 to Toc Black Magic. He will love today's surface and could grab a share.

AP SILVER STRIKER(MUDFLAPS) He ran 3rd in last season's Triple Crown Sprint at 1200 in the mud. He shows some good races on all surfaces, but was not better than 5th in his two qualifiers. He looks like an outsider, but any runner from this Hall-Of-Fame Stable must be respected.

RACE ANALYSIS

Golden Lineage is the horse to beat. he is a true champion and has dominated throughout the season. But Toc Black Magic is a very talented contender and got a surface he loves.

The yielding turf course has compromised the chances of most of the other contenders, so this looks like a two horse race. Golden Lineage will be tough to beat, but Toc Black Magic should be right there at the finish.

Bob's Big Boy, Colt Of Arms, AP Total Chaos, Ritchie's Titanic, Jack T Ripper, Rusty's Secret, AP Punisher, and Love Generation are very talented horses that could have contended on other surfaces. But the yielding turf course is not to their liking.

Diamond Crown does not seem to like today's distance or surface. AP Silver Striker and Count Drakula will need a lot of racing luck for a minor share, but did get surfaces that they like.

Mega Tsunami is not a true sprinter but likes today's surface and could be a surprise.

Good luck to all. Bob

Yielding goings completely change the complexion of the Triple Crown Sprints!

TRIPLE CROWN SPRINT-COLTS

Distance 1400 Track- England Yielding

TOC GENGHIS KHAN(REDDAVE) - In last season's Juvenile Sprint Championship with Baton Aoki aboard, he was utterly dominant. Despite breaking slowly, getting blocked twice, clipping heels with another horse, and stopping in mid-stretch to sign autographs(the horse not the jockey), he won going away. This season he has been dominant on off-tracks and at 1000 and 1200, but has not shown the same level of dominance at today's distance. Very capable of plundering the field.

NINJA ON FIRE(PORTS82) -Came along too late in his 2 year old season to contend in the "Champs", but has stamped himself as a contender as a 3 year old. Had a 2nd at today's distance to Mystery Comet on August 19th on a fast track, and showed his versatility with a 3rd to Khan in the mud on September 16th. His best race may have been a 3rd to Navel hero on September 30th with Massimo Conti aboard. He may have been the best horse in that race. He is his stable's first Championship starter and they hope he catches fire in the stretch.

NAVEL HERO(ROBSLOBS) -He was a Juvenile Sprint Finalist after an excellent season, and has had a solid 3 year old campaign. His qualifying wins on September 30th and November 11th at today's distance on good tracks stamp him as a legitimate contender. He also had a very impressive win on a fast track at 1200 on October 28th. The stable's only Champion was named Naval hero, and they are hoping this colt will be another hero for them today. One of the pre-race favorites.

KHAL DROGO(CHRISMAN) -He ran a very nice 3rd to Khan in last season's Juvenile Sprint on a good track. This season he started off well in August and ran into an extended stretch of poor racing luck until a nice 2nd to Navel Hero in the October 28th Qualifier. That race was at 1200. He does not show the same level of success at 1400, but if he gets another good track, we all know that this barn is always dangerous in the finals.

QUICK STEP DANCER(DOCTOR TURF) After getting a late start last season, he won the Consolation Sprint. This season, his best effort was a big 2nd to Navel Hero on November 11th. That was at 1400 on a good track. He also had a good 3rd to Mystery Comet at today's distance on a fast track. He needed a firm or good surface to have his best chance.

BRAZEN BOY(WHYMEA FARMS) -Ran a very nice 2nd to Khan in last season's Juvenile Sprint and has come back with a good 3 year old season. Although he only shows a 3rd and a 4th in qualifiers, he has done well in some specialty races thanks to some savvy race placement by this Hall-Of-Fame Stable.

HUGENUDENOADDS(BIGBOB) -He had 2 nice efforts with a surprising 2nd at 1200 to Khan, and nice 3rd to Khan at 1000. 1400 is not this horse's best distance, so he will need a lot of racing luck to hit the board and convince his owner that a name change is in order.

MYSTERY COMET(LEE'S BARN) -He was a Juvenile Finalist last season after a good 2 year old season. Came back with two big wins in qualifiers on fast tracks, one of them at today's distance. But, he needed a firm track for his best chance at an in-the-money finish.

AP PITBULL(BLACK LOTUS) After failing to make the Sprint Finals last season, he has bounced back with a nice 3 year old season. He won the 2nd Division (or instance) of 2 qualifiers at 1400 on a good track. But, he does not show a championship effort on a yielding track.

SAKURA EMPATHY(CHRISMAN) -Came 4th in last season's Juvenile Sprint Championship on a good track and made the finals mainly due to a nice 4th at 1200 on September 16th. That race was in the mud, but his best turf races are on a good track. He does not show any championship efforts at today's distance or on a yielding surface.

POUND FOR A PENCE(WHYMEA FARMS) -After finishing a disappointing 7th in last season's Sprint Finals, he bounced back with a good 3 year old season. He ran a nice 3rd at 1400 on a fast track, and a good 4th on a good track, both at today's distance. Part of a solid Whymea Entry, but does not show that he can handle the surface.

HOLLYWOOD SLAYER(DOC MDTERPS) -He failed to make last season's Sprint Finals, but made it this season on the strength of 2 big races. He ran 2nd to Casual Decision at 1400 on a fast track, and beat AP Pitbull at 1200 in the mud. He shows some versatility but appears to prefer the dirt.

RORY McILROY(HATMAN'S HEADQUARTERS) -He got a late start last year and missed the finals, but came back with an outstanding 3 year old season. Although he only had one 2nd place finish in qualifiers, thanks to outstanding race placement by the stable, he won several big specialty races. 1400 may not be his best distance, and a yielding turf course hurt the stable's chances for their first championship.

CASUAL DECISION(REDDAVE) -Fast track specialist made the finals thanks to a huge win in the August 19th Qualifier. He also had a 4th at 1600 on a fast track. His best races are all on the dirt and he does not show the same level of performance on the turf.

RACE ANALYSIS

The fact that the turf course will be yielding completely changed the complexion of this race. Most of these horses do not show being able to handle the surface.

Toc's Ghengis Khan looks very tough to beat in this race. He can handle the surface and no other horse in this race appears able to run their best on a yielding turf course. He looks like he will repeat his Juvenile win.

Although Navel Hero has some decent efforts on a yielding turf course, it is clearly not his favorite surface. But with so many other horses not liking the surface, he looks like he should run a good race.

Ninja On Fire, Quick Step Dancer, Brazen Boy, Hugenudenoadds, Mystery Comet, AP Pitbull, Rory McIlroy, Casual Decision, and Pound For A Pence, all appear not to like the yielding turf course.

For Sakura Empathy and Khal Drago, 1400 does not looks like their best distance, and a yielding turf course is not their favorite surface.

Hollywood Slayer shows some ability to handle the surface, and for that reason could grab a share, since so many horses do not like the surface.

This race appears to be all "Khan".

Good luck to all. Bob

Mid-season addition to the Chrisman Stable, made it to the finals

JUVENILE SPRINT COLTS

Distance 1400 Track- America Fast

Welcome to Digiturf's 32nd Championship Season. The "Champs" start off with the Colt Juvenile Sprint. I hope that everyone will enjoy the previews. If for some reason your horse is overlooked, remember that my record with picking winners last year was not the best, so if I don't pick you, it probably improves your chances!!

AP DEVIL'S BAG(BLACK LOTUS) - Big mid-season purchase has lived up to his billing with an outstanding 2 year old campaign. He shows wins at every sprint distance including the final's distance of 1400. He loves a fast track and gets his favorite surface for the finals.

MAHOGONY(KARL KHODER) -Tough hard-knocking colt hardly ever ran a bad race this season. He shows good efforts at every distance and on every surface and is a definite contender for top honors. He has a 2nd place finish on a fast track, and the distance will not be a problem.

MONKEY WRENCH(PARANOID) - He burst on the scene in mid-season and had several impressive efforts including a win in the October 26th Qualifier at 1600, and a 2nd at 1200 on October 19th. He seems to favor a fast track and if he can run back to his November 2nd win, he throw a "monkey wrench" into the proceedings and help the stable walk off with their first championship.

SPILL WINE(HORSE HEAVEN HILLS) -The stable will be hoping for a heavenly performance to get their first championship. This is another runner who can run well on a fast track. His best race was a 2nd on a fast track at this distance on October 5th to American Avenger.

FIFTH SPIRIT(REDDAVE) -Shows a 3rd at 1600 on a yielding surface, and a 4th at 1200 on a muddy surface. His chances would have improved with an off track. Unfortunately, today's track surface is not to his liking.

SUPER NIX(GO J GO) -If the track comes up fast for the finals, this could be a serious sleeper. He ran a very impressive 3rd in the September 14th. Landon Webster got him into all kinds of trouble that day, and he may have been the best horse in the race.

DASHING WIZARD(REDDAVE) -Made the finals on the strength of a big win on September 9th. That win, at 1200 in the mud, with Heinrich Nikolaus aboard stamped him as a contender if the track came up muddy. But, the track for the finals will not be to his liking.

CROWN ENCHANTED(FOGGYDAN) -Savvy mid-season pick up by this Hall of Fame Trainer. Burst on the scene in mid-season and quickly stamped himself as a contender in the October 19th Qualifier. That win was on a soft turf course at 1200. He needed and off-track for the finals but did not get it.

GLADDER THAN GLAD(PRICER) -Stamped his entry to the finals thanks to a big 2nd to Monkey Wrench in the October 26th Qualifier. That race was at 1600 on a firm turf course. 1400 does not appear to be his best distance, but he has a chance because the track came up fast.

NIGHTLY INTRUSION(WHYMEA FARMS) -Lightly raced colt had a huge win in the Sept 21 qualifier on a fast track. He also had a good 2nd in the mud on November 9th, and 4th place finish at 1200 on a yielding track on October 19th. He is lightly raced and a bit of a mystery horse but looks like he could contend if the breaks go his way.

AMERICAN AVENGER(AMERICAN ALMS) -This is the first Championship Start for this relatively new barn and if the track comes up fast, this guy could surprise. He had an impressive win in the October 5th qualifier on a fast track at today's distance. He beat most of today's top contenders that day and for that reason can't be ignored.

NFL CORNERBACK(GW STABLE) -Made the finals thanks to two 4th place finishes, one at 1000, and one at 1200. The stable has over 1000 wins but is still looking for their first Championship Winner. Most NFL Cornerbacks are great sprinters because they need a great time in the 40 yard dash to play football. The stable will be hoping he has a great time in the 1400 to be their first great sprinter.

FOG SIREN(CHRISMAN) -Mid-season addition to the Chrisman Stable, made it to the finals despite not finishing better than 5th in any qualifier. Although he has run mainly on fast tracks, his best races were in the mud. Has not had much racing luck in qualifiers, so the stable is hoping he's due.

STORMIN' STUD(DOCTOR TURF)-Made the finals thanks to a big 2nd place finish in the 2nd division of the November 16th qualifier. That race was at today's distance on a firm track, but most of his best races have been on off tracks or on the turf.

RACE ANALYSIS

Although AP Devil's bag is a worthy pre-race favorite, this is a wide open race with several horses having a chance on their best. Mahogany, Monkey Wrench, and Spill Wine all got a surface they like, and have the ability to pull off the upset.

American Avenger and Nightly Intrusion show excellent races on a fast track and have the talent to take it all if the breaks go their way.

Crown Enchanted, Dashing Wizard, Fifth Spirit and Stormin' Stud did not get their favorite surfaces for this race, and for that reason will have to run lifetime bests on a fast track to contend.

Although they do not look like they can grab the top spot, Gladder Than Glad and Super Nix got favorable surfaces and could get a share of the purse.

NFL Cornerback looks like he prefers a shorter distance, while Fog Siren has not had much luck in qualifiers and will need a lot of breaks to grab a minor share.

I think that half a dozen horses could win this race. I am going with the "chalk" and selecting AP Devil's Bag, but would not be surprised to see an upset.

Good luck to all. Bob

Eleven Things You Should Know About The Cigar Mile

1) The Cigar Mile is run at Aqueduct Race Track in Queens, New York. It is open to 3-year-olds and up.
2) The race was originally named for the New York Racing Association and called the NYRA Mile. NYRA is the not-for-profit operator of Belmont, Aqueduct, and Saratoga.
3) The race was run for the first time in 1988. In 1997 the race was re-named the Cigar Mile for the Hall of Fame horse who won the race in 1994.
4) The inaugural Cigar Mile was won by the Woody Stephens-trained Forty Niner, the same winner of that year’s Travers and Haskell Stakes. The future Hall of Famer Precisionist finished third.
5) In 1991, 15 horses entered the gate, the most in the race’s history. Rubiano, who would be named champion sprinter in 1992, beat 14 of his rivals in the final race of his 4-year-old season.
6) Congaree is the only two-time winner of the Cigar Mile. The Bob Baffert-trained colt won the race in 2002 and 2003. Congaree had previously won the 2001 Wood Memorial, also run over the Aqueduct track.
7) The gelding Affirmed Success, son of Triple Crown winner Affirmed, finished second in the 1998 Cigar Mile before finishing first in 1999. He completed the trifecta with a third in 2000. Affirmed Success currently resides at Old Friends in Kentucky.
8) Eight 3-year-olds have won the Cigar, the last being Tale of Ekati, who won the race via disqualification in 2008.
9) The current stakes record time was set by the 3-year-old Discreet Cat in 2006.
10) Jockey Jerry Baily won the Cigar Mile five times. His wins included the mount on the race’s current namesake in 1994. He also rode Congaree for his two wins.

One other thing you should know about the Cigar Mile WFA is that Digiturf.com is sponsoring two Cigar Mile WFA with US$100.00 on the 26 November 2011!

More sterling yearlings at Sales Ring Prices!

The only way to increase your earnings is to keep your horses racing as actively as possible because time is money when it comes to growing a successful stable.

For every day that your horses aren’t running, it’s another day where your stable is losing money to stabling fees without any income from your horses’ races. The quickest way to start winning money from their races is to get them racing from the first day of the season, and, the quickest way to accomplish that is to buy your horses as yearlings and train them to start racing from the first day of the new season.

You could always buy your horses later in the season, but buying them now gives them a head start in their races. Bob's Big Red and Moment Of Change certainly pulled out all the stops to earn over $3,000 each as juvenile runners this season, one wonders how the Championship Series could change their fortunes. Hurricane Allie follows with $2,444 earnings for the season, with One Kung Pao and Morgan Le Fay settling into fourth and fifth positions of the most successful horses of the season bought as yearlings. For juvenile horses they're making more money in their own right than some trainers!

If you wanted to know how successfully last season's yearling performed in their juvenile races this season, then the Race Programmer is happy to share his list of the top 20 yearlings of the season.

Yearlings Sale

The Yearling Sale is Digiturf.com’s biggest sale of the season- and it starts today!

Yearlings are the best financial investment any trainer, who is serious about virtual horse racing, can make when it comes to building a competitive stable. Yearlings get a head start on their training, so they’re ready to race from the first day of the new season, and they get it free! You can start training them as 1 year olds today so they’re ready to race as 2 year olds next month.

You want your yearlings ready to race from the first day of the new season because the Race Programmer has created an ultra-exciting, ten-day racing extravaganza worth US$2,760.00 just for next season’s 2 year olds- they're also going to need a supplementary fee!

You also get to enjoy that extra month training your yearlings for free because their first stabling fee will only be due in January 2011, e.g. a yearling bought on 12 November 2011 won’t have a stabling fee due on 12 December 2011, then if still unraced thereafter it will have a US$2.00 stabling fee due on 12 January 2011.

Technically, this means you get to keep your yearlings for free: yearlings eat for free, train for free, and sleep for free on Digiturf.com. That’s because you should spend as much time training your yearlings until they drop because next season they are going to be kept on their hooves running in some of the most competitive races ever seen on Digiturf.com!

Digiturf.com’s Yearling Sale begins in the sales ring and ends with you in the winner’s circle!

Yearling Sale Details:
- Yearlings will be available from 00:01 GMT on 9 November 2011 until 23:59 GMT on 30 November 2011.
- The sales ring defaults to 2Y horses, remember to select the 1Y horse.
- Yearlings have the same ability that they will have as 2Y horses.
ie. Ageing from 1 to 2 years has no effect on the horses’ ability.
- Yearlings are trained against 2Y training horses to gauge their abilities as a 2Y horse.
- Yearlings become 2Y horses on the first day of the new season.
- Yearlings can only enter races as 2Y horses in the new season.

Graham Clifford's view from the stands at Raceclubs.com.

Biography: Graham is a reporter for the Irish Independent newspaper and is based in London. Also he has been a broadcast and print journalist for the last decade working in the U.K., Australia and in his native Ireland. He once worked as a body double for Johnny Vegas and represented Slovakia in last year’s Eurovision song contest with the song “random factor blues”!

Markets react positively to Raceclub’s suggestions on Greek debt-crisis

The Footsie 100 closed up 1,321 points yesterday and markets around the world rallied this morning after Raceclub owners submitted their proposals for a Greek economic recovery. Lucas Papademos, successor to poor old George Papandreou said he was simply astounded by the suggestions received. The Greek Prime Minister told Parliament “today is a bright day for our country, Raceclubs will see Greece strong again’. Why the optimism? Well in answer to the most recent View from the Stands question ‘are there any get-rich-quick ideas you could suggest to their governing elite of Greece?’ owners flocked to their computers in large numbers to offer assistance.

The Greek Parliament sat into the small hours (mainly because Angela Merkel had ordered the repossession of their homes) and selected their top three answers. In reverse order here were their favoured plans of action.

3. From Mark at the Tanky yard, officials were advised to “lead a campaign for the compulsory search down the back all Greek national’s sofas ,armchairs etc. all proceeds to be confiscated, and donated to "the get Greece out of the pooh fund” – the View from the Stands team understands Greek officials may decide to choose an alternative name for the actual fund.

2. Link Up came up with this cracker – “On the spot fines for peeing in the swimming pool. €5 for crafty one in the corner, €10 for a drunken wee and a flow blown fart. €100 when the fart goes horrible wrong.” Heinz baked beans have offered to sponsor this proposal and flood the country with its canned produce.

1. But the winning pitch which will receive the £10 (€11.68) in bonus credits this week is the Lonesome Dove stable who suggested simply “build a recycling centre for plates”. The Greeks spend something in the region of ten trillion euro a year on full size dinner plates and double that on side plates. There are no official figures for the national spend on saucers or butter dishes.

Well done Raceclub owners and Greece consider yourself lucky….this time.

Party time in Sweden on arrival of baby Cassidy

Well you have to hand it to Tony he didn’t forget his friends at Raceclubs when his missus decided to go into labour! Somehow he found time to post “this is a very memorable time in my life as I’m just off to the hospital with the missus, hopefully there will be a new addition to my family very soon! I’ll keep all who are interested informed as time goes on.” And the Juliussilas stable owner who’s quickly closing in on 1,000 wins was true to his word. An hour-and-a-half after the original post Tony wrote to inform us “Maries 6cm dilated”! And two hours later the greatest news filtered through when we got “baby Cassidy born 21.20 Swedish time. thanks to everyone who posted on this thread and all looks well, from family Moran.” Little Cassidy shares her birthday with the very brilliant singer Petula Clark, Spanish tennis star Fernando Verdasco and Trainspotting actor Jonny Lee Miller! Fantastic news Tony and love the name, not Marie’s surname by any chance? Well done again and thank you for keeping us all informed. What a lovely Christmas lies ahead for you all.

This is a birthday free zone

On the subject of daughters I was explaining to my eldest (aged 5) the other day about how horses have different ages in this game and that it goes up as it would with a real horse. She looked perplexed by my jargon. “Age change” she said, “that doesn’t sound very nice”. “What should I say?” I asked, she replied “you could say they have their birthdays on those days and not just that their age changes.” Fair point, let’s get out the bunting and party hats. I didn’t have the heart to tell her that after their 7th birthday they’re toast!

Bring on the English!

I may live to regret these words but in our current bubble of euphoria we the Republic of Ireland fear nobody. True we only got to the Euro 2012 play-offs thanks to some daft results by Armenia (who?) and that drawing Estonia in the play-offs was as jammy as you can get. Yep the mighty Estonia, who lost to the Faroe Islands in their qualifying group. That the second leg of our play-off was at home. That the referee in the first leg in Tallinn could have been from Tipperary so biased was he in our favour. That he sent two of their players off. Yes despite all those little nuggets of luck we will go out to win the European Championships next Summer. And if we get England we’ll be delighted…..but not half as delighted as English fans will be I’d say!!!! Great to be back at a major championships. I’ve already been in contact with friends at home and around Europe about getting that all important camper van!

You have to wonder if Sepp Blatter isn’t just having one big laugh

I don’t believe that FIFA President Sepp Blatter is as daft as he portrays himself. I think that perhaps he likes courting controversy, likes being in front of the cameras and likes the sound of his own voice. His comments on racism are almost mild in comparison to other senseless things he’s said in the past. Blatter incurred criticism from female footballers in 2004 when he suggested that women should "wear tighter shorts and low cut shirts... to create a more female aesthetic" and attract more male fans. This man won the ‘Global Award for Peace’ once, on that basis Nick Griffin might get a shot at it next year!

Maple Leaf has another monster filly in the Juvenile Sprint Championships!

JUVENILE SPRINT-FILLIES

Distance 1400 Hong Kong Soft --

HURRICANE ALLIE(WHYMEA FARMS) -Allie has had an outstanding Juvenile Season, winning qualifiers at distances from 1200-1600. She has also won on fast, muddy, firm, soft, and yielding surfaces, showing her versatility. She is well suited to today's distance and is the logical pre-race favorite.

MISS MOLLYDOLLY(SQUIB RACING) -She has a win and a 2nd in qualifiers at this distance. A firm track would seem to be her preferred surface. She shows no championship efforts on anything other than firm or fast tracks. She is Squib's first championship starter, and he is hoping for some luck to bring home the stable's first championship.

HENDERSON SCORES(MAPLE LEAF FARMS) - She does not look as impressive as her stable mate, but she has shown solid ability with a win and a 2nd in qualifiers. Her best efforts have been at 1600, but she has run well on a variety of surfaces and could surprise. Part of a big Maple Leaf Entry.

MUTTON HONEY(WHYMEA FARMS) -Lightly raced filly had a win and a 2nd in qualifiers. But they were both at 1200. This filly has been raced almost exclusively on a fast or firm surface, and would seem to need her favored surface to run her best. Part of a solid Whymea Entry.

CENTER ICE LOONIE(MAPLE LEAF FARMS) - A year after monster Rusty's Princess hit the track, Maple Leaf has another championship contender with this girl. She exploded on the scene late in the season with a win in the November 2nd qualifier at 1200 on a fast track, a big 2nd in the mud at today's distance, and another win at 1200. Although she has only had a few races, she looks like the horse to beat.

FIRST UP(BLACK LOTUS) -Qualified for the finals on the strength of a big 2nd place finish in the October 19th qualifier. In that race she ran a solid 2nd to Thrifty Fifty at today's distance, in the mud, and was probably the best horse on that day. She also finished the season with another 2nd on November 16th to Center Ice Loonie. She looks like she will like the soft going.

THRIFTY FIFTY(PRICER) -Mid-season arrival stamped herself as a contender with her win in the October 19th qualifier and a 2nd at this distance on November 9th, both in the mud. She also had a 4th on a firm track at 1600. She is lightly raced so it is hard to get a handle on her, but she does not seem to like the soft going.

ONOONOGRIETJE(ONOONOFLYERS) -The race caller would have his hands full with this horse. This girl is this relatively new stable's first championship starter. She has shown versatility running various distances and on various surfaces but does not show a championship level effort and will need a lot of racing luck for an in-the-money finish.

BLACK NAME(REDDAVE) -Although he would appear to be an outsider based upon the point standings, this colt has had two impressive races at 1400. He had a 2nd to Miss Mollydolly on August 17th with Massimo Conti, and a 3rd to Hurricane Allie on September 28th with Heinrich Nikolaus.

CALCUTTA RIVER (THE BLUE) -This is quite a story with a finals appearance by a rookie stable. This filly had a 3rd and a 4th at today's distance in the mud. There is no indication that she can duplicate this form on the turf and she seems to be strictly a "mudder", but congratulations to the stable on getting to the finals.

DARLA'S DELIGHT(WHYMEA FARMS) -Another filly who appears to prefer the mud, she made it to the finals on the strength of a big 2nd in the September 7th Qualifier. In that race, at today's distance in the mud, she ran a big 2nd to Hurricane Allie. All of her best races have been in the mud, and there is no indication that she can run a big race on the turf.

U STANDING STILL(TURNER FARMS)-Her best race was a 4th to Center Ice Loonie in the November 2nd Qualifier. That was at 1200 on a fast track. This is the stable's first championship starter, and their horse will needed a firm track to have a chance at an in-the-money finish.

QUIET PARIAH(DEEOG) Made the finals thanks to a 3rd place finish to Henderson Scores at 1600 on a firm track. She can run the distance but does not look like a prime contender. But this stable has an amazing 26% win percentage in finals and over a 50% in- the-money record, so any horse of theirs must be respected.

DRIFT QUEEN(REDDAVE) -Her best race was a 4th in the October 19th qualifier to Thrifty Fifty. That was in the mud at today's distance. She does not show any top efforts on the turf, and her entry mate would appear to have a better chance.

RACE ANALYSIS

Hurricane Allie has had an outstanding Juvenile Season and looks like the horse to beat. Henderson Scores has been versatile hard charging filly all season, and could contend on her best. First Up does not have the credentials of the other favorites, but likes the soft going.

Miss Mollydolly and Mutton Honey were definite contenders if the track surface had been different. But a soft turf course hurts them.

Thrift Fifty, Black Name, Calcutta River, Darla's Delight, Drift Queen, and U Standing Still did not get the surfaces that they like. They will have a tough time contending in this very tough race.

Onoonogrietje will need a lifetime best effort to contend. Quiet Pariah looks like she will need a lot of breaks to grab a minor share, but her two races on a soft track were not bad.

The only horse that I have not mentioned, is my pick to win. Although Center Ice Loonie does not show a race on a soft turf course, she looks like she can run on anything. It looks like Maple Leaf has another monster, and she is my pick for the race.

Hurricane Allie has the best chance to beat her. Henderson Scores and First Up are the other contenders for the money.

Good luck to all. Bob

Eleven Things You Should Know About The Cigar Mile!

Preparing for the championships with your sterling yearlings at sales ring prices!

The world of digital horse racing according to Susan will make you want to saddle up!

The World of Digital Horse Racing According to Susan’s Stable

Remember the adrenalin rush of that first winning ticket at the race track? Well racing horses online at http://www.digiturf.com can give that same feeling. While you don’t get the sights and sounds of the surroundings at the track, you do get the conveniences of home. No more having to get in the car and drive long distances to get the excitement of thoroughbred action. No more admissions, programs, or concessions. Just a couple of clicks of the computer mouse and you are there on the rail. This is the world of owning virtual horses. No special skills needed. All you need is a money and time to have fun.

Just as with the real racetrack there are winners and there are losers. However unlike the racetrack your small investment isn’t gone in two minutes if your horse doesn’t win. You have the opportunity the race your horse or horses in many different races. You will learn over time which distances and goings are best for your horses. There is also a virtual community full of seasoned trainers and relative information that can assist you.

There are a number of ways to build the quantity of horses in your stable. There’s the Sales Ring, where you’ve got the opportunity to pull a monster horse.

These horses can earn seasonal purses in the thousands of dollars! A couple of those horses this season are:

Rusty's Princess
G1 3F Maple Leaf Farms
Mar 29, 11 83 27 33% 41 49% US$5,041.22

Golden Lineage
G1 7M Paris House
Feb 21, 10 70 25 36% 34 49% US$4,128.76

Bob's Big Red
G1 2F Bigbob
Jul 30, 11 54 20 37% 20 37% US$3,280.43

While these horses are leading the way in rankings right now, someone could be a pull from the sales ring and some qualifier races away from taking over the top spot.

If you want a proven contender you might elect to buy from the claiming ranks. While you may not get the monster, there are always a number of quality graded earners available out there waiting for a tag. Aside from the opportunity to earn purses, these horses provide valuable insight into what training trails are needed to have a competitive horse. Finally if you are just ready to compete for the big money right out of the gate, there are bi-weekly auctions. You can find any quality level horse you want in these auctions. There are past champions to green two- year olds available for a new home.

So the next time you pull up to your local track or OTB and are waiting for the rain to let up a little bit or to get the courage to face the arctic air after opening the car door remember there is something better waiting at home. Digital horsing is waiting for you.

Until next time may all your starters be strong in the lane and have a big noses in a photo!

Thanksgiving is celebrated to express gratitude and appreciation for the blessings one has received throughout the year. Digiturf.com celebrates Thanksgiving with everyone who has reason to be thankful- and those who still need to count their blessings, because there is plenty to be thankful for on Digiturf.com.

Win $600 in Raceclubs.com's Newbury Winter Meeting for virtual horses.

The Newbury Hennessy Gold Cup is a Grade 3 National Hunt chase in Great Britain which is open to horses aged four years or older. It is run at Newbury over a distance of about 3 miles and 2½ furlongs (5,331 metres), and during its running there are twenty-one fences to be jumped. It is a handicap race, and it is scheduled to take place each year in late November or early December.

The event was established in 1957, and it was initially staged at Cheltenham. The winner of the inaugural running, Mandarin, was owned by Peggy Hennessy, a member of the family which founded Hennessy, the race's sponsoring company. It was transferred to Newbury in 1960, and it was won by Mandarin for a second time in 1961.

The race's association with Hennessy has continued throughout its history, and this now represents British racing's longest commercial sponsorship. The record was previously held by the Whitbread Gold Cup, which was first run seven months before the "Hennessy", and which was sponsored by Whitbread until 2001.

The Hennessy Gold Cup has been won by seven horses which have also achieved victory in the Cheltenham Gold Cup. It with pride that the Race Programmer has sponsored six Newbury Winter Meeting races with total of US$600.00 from the 24th, 25th & 26th November 2011.

We'll drink to that!
