Triple Crown Sprint Championship - Colts - America 1200 Fast
The championship series attracts the best fillies and colts of their generation, but with all due respect to the trainers, the Triple Crown Sprint Championship field looks relatively weak - of the 14 horses in the race, only two of them have their win count in double figures with the win average of the field just over 6 wins per runner. Having said that, the average earnings of this field is over $1,100 per runner which is very respectable. Personally, I always look for a specialist in these 1200 Metre races and this field treats us to at least four specialists who could very well fight it out at the finish - Chrisman's pair of Bad Bwoy and Ap Devil Dawg, Worldwater Stables' Cherry Blizzard and Black Lotus' Furstin all look perfectly suited to the 6 furlong trip and it's almost impossible to seperate them on form. Bad Bwoy got the upper hand in a 1200 fast qualifier at Dubai and this lightly raced colt may just have the edge over Cherry Blizzard who has won five of his 6 races over the 1200 trip. Ap Devil Dawg was a little unlucky that day and could well be the one to beat. Of the others, last season's Champ winner Rumblin Ryan cannot be ignored but seems held on his 1200 form while Melchizedech has never won over 1200 but relishes today's conditions and could upset. The Backstabber is a very consistent earner who seems better on muddy. Interestingly, the only runner in the field to have won 2 qualifiers is Ap Night Stalker who I believe will find the 1200 metres too short and will probably be using this run as a sprint up for tomorrow's Classic Championship. The selection goes to Chrisman's Ap Devil Dawg ahead of Bad Bwoy and Cherry Blizzard with Furstin next best - outside chances go to The Backstabber and Rumblin Ryan.

Bad Bwoy and Ap Devil Dawg show the way for Cherry Blizzard in a 1200 Qualifier at Dubai.
