Champ night in the parade ringAs I arrive at the course for the crème de la crème of virtual horse racing my nerves are kicking in and the excitement is building. This is what it’s all about; horses at the top of their game competing for the ultimate prize, a championship win. I park up and climb out of my modest Ford Focus, only to clip my car door off the magnificent Black Lotus parked beside me. I see there is a dent in the Lotus and the alarm is ringing loudly, so I do the obvious, I get back in my car and reverse out of the space into a new one! As I carefully exit my car again making sure I don’t damage anything else I see a blue mini pull into the parking space next to the Black Lotus. I then see a tall man running towards the mini and demand the owner to show his face.A small scrawny looking man who barely reaches five foot steps out of the mini and cowers away from the Lotus owner, who I presume is called Mr Dom as his number plate is K- Dom. Mr. Dom then asks the man for his insurance details, and the man replies in a high pitched voice “Yes of course, my name is Bob, Big Bob”. Mr. Dom looks at the man and can’t help but chuckle. He crouches down and puts an arm around Big Bob. “Don’t worry about it Bob. Come on let’s go inside and I will buy you a drink. I will give you a piggy back as with your little legs it will take us an hour to get there!” . I breathe a sigh of relief and head off to the parade ring. It’s a big night for me with chances in more than one race and I’m itching for everything to get going. I take a look around and try to take it all in and remember this night of nights when hopefully my horse will go from apple of my eye to fully fledged digi legend ( if only in my eyes ) lol. As I’m looking about I see many strange faces from all over the globe and realise the digi family was showing itself in all its glory. I heard a noise to my left and to my amazement there he was slapping a strange looking brush against his hand to ease the tension, it was definitely Jamaica’s most famous man, a living legend. No I’m not talking about Usain Bolt, it was Mr Chrisman, a guy with an almost Godlike aura about him. I wanted to go and speak to him but felt myself not worthy of it so decided to go for a short walk. On my way round I couldn’t help but notice many strange new faces.I walked past a lady who I could only describe as an Asian Diva with a dress which seemed to be made out of money. She seemed to be having a heated discussion with a representative from Filante Stables yard. Filante himself was standing not far behind looking a bit sheepish, when he noticed me looking over he quickly turned away, I only got a quick glance but I’m sure it’s a face I have seen before. Also in attendance was Mudflaps with his new Thai wife he met on a dating website. He appeared to be in a chirpy mood, though I’m sure that will all change when his usual run of LT and RP crop up in the big races. It seems a strange night to me as I normally spend the start of the evening in The biggest of all the executive boxes with Tony Trezza , however with Tony in rehab for his ring addiction the Digiturf staff have taken the box for the evening. I was going to go and introduce myself (take advantage of the free bar) but was a bit wary of being near the staff when all the stables were in attendance as I ain’t taking a bullet for nobody lol.A hush surrounds the place and when I look round everyone is down on one knee bowing in front of someone. At first I couldn’t see who it was but soon realised King Gnb had landed and was limbering out of his helicopter in full uniform of crown and robes, in my head I’m thinking what an idiot but as everyone else is on one knee it would be ungracious not to do the same.5 minutes until the first race and everyone seems nervous and a deathly hush drops over the place. That is until a young girl in her mid twenties walks in wearing a black and white sport shirt. I’m not usually critical of how people dress but when everyone’s suited and booted and someone walks in with a sport shirt on it draws attention. If that wasn’t bad enough she had three children in tow all very young and not seemingly enjoying the occasion, or so the screaming would have me think. After making sure I was a 100 yards away from all that it’s time for the first race, I’m standing next to two legends of the digi world who are sharing stories of their past memories of the fantastic champ nights gone. Annie was telling Frank stories about her triumphant triple crown and Frank was telling her about his miserable random luck on champ nights, which has resulted in only 24 champ wins and a series he must have forgot about which happened about 4 months ago.You wouldn’t believe what happened next. I woke up, yes that’s right listening to those stories for the hundredth time at least had led me to fall asleep just before the first race. Had my horses won, had Chris dominated in his usual style or had the new stables earned their place in history? There’s only one way to find out. Tune into the champ series starting at Saturday night when all the digi characters will be out in full force.Good luck to everyone in the champs and please take this in good humour as it is meant.Member Submission: MckinleysThe future of horse racing is online at Digiturf.com
