Digiturf.com invites you to help solve Linda Fitzgerald's murder! The world's worst jockey has run her last race!

Who shot Linda Fitzgerald on Digiturf.com?

It is with great sadness that we have to inform everyone about the tragic loss of one the finest members of our virtual horse racing community at Digiturf.com. While we ask everyone to respect the family’s right to privacy during their time of heartache and grief they have agreed to allow Digiturf.com to dedicate a day of virtual horse racing to the memory of their lovely, and often misunderstood daughter, Linda Fitzgerald, a close friend and respected jockey to everyone in the world of virtual horse racing, whose light will shine as brightly in the community as it was so cruelly cut short.

In an ironic twist of fate, just before Digiturf.com’s 34th Championship Series, the world’s 34th highest ranked virtual jockey was shot down dead in cold blood by a deranged madman who jumped the rails and ran directly into the field of Ms. Fitzgerald’s last race. The masked offender distracted Ms. Fitzgerald by throwing dozens of triple-glazed caramel doughnuts in her direction during before attempting to shoot her down at point-blank range. Eyewitnesses report that the valiant Ms. Fitzgerald tried admirably to maintain her composure during the incident but was defenseless against the onslaught of deep-fried confectionary falling from the sky. The Race Programmer said it was a tragic way for her die because she loved those triple-glazed caramel doughnuts more than life itself.

Linda’s love of food was often the butt of many a derisive joke in the virtual horse racing community but the Race Programmer says he prefers to remember her as a simple Irish girl with a healthy appetite for life. She once polished off a pork & veal terrine, a whole roasted sirloin of beef followed by a vanilla panna cotta with mixed berry couli, chocolate shards & whipped cream for dessert before saddling up for the Hobart Cup WFA just because the $320 luncheon included a complimentary race book. He said Linda’s life was a short but full one.

A tearful Ming Ho recalls her friend warmly. “Linda never took no for an answer. When the Mardi Gras WFA committee banned her from attending their debutante ball because they said she was just a drunk and their event was a family occasion she simply threw herself into the in the French Quarter wearing the silk gown she had designed herself in the traditional purple, green and gold colors of the Mardi Gras, adorned with layers of local beads and coconuts, and proceeded to flash innocent people in the streets of New Orleans. It was a riot!”

Despite an unfortunate youth, Linda put her celebrity status to good use as she whipped up support from trainers and jockeys alike to raise awareness about prejudice in the virtual horse racing community called jockeyism. She was always campaigning for equal rights, not just female jockeys but all jockeys. She was especially proud of Rosie Napravik when she became the first female jockey to win the Kentucky Oaks in 2012. Linda said it was just marvelous to see a female jockey being afforded the respect that she deserved after proving that female jockeys are just as capable of winning the big races when they could also get the horses that had been trained right by their owners.

Ms. Linda Fitzgerald was an icon at Digiturf.com, famous for competing in over 54,855 races, yet modestly declining to mention how much money she had won, because Linda always said that racing virtual horses was a service to the virtual horse racing community that was filled with love, devotion, gratitude and that her rewards were in heaven. May she find those rewards she so justly deserves.

The Race Programmer has scheduled a day of racing in honor of Linda Fitzgerald on Sunday, 5th August 2012. All trainers are invited to enter their best horses ridden by Linda into the RIP LINDA races. The family has requested that in lieu of sponsorships all the bonus credits be donated to Linda’s favorite charity, Taco Bell; however there will be two Prive RIP LINDA races sponsored with US$200.00cash to reflect the caliber of her racing prowess.
