The Race
Heads up! And they're off ... Show Time bounded out the gates but Autograph, West Gone Black and The Backstabber rushed up to make the early running. Judge Roy, Show Time and Louder Than Words settled a length off the pace with Bad Bwoy 2 lengths back along the rail. Towards the rear of the field, Furstin, Rumblin Ryan and Tropic Lightning were all relaxed in the early stages. Heading into the straight and towards the halfway marker it was The Backstabber who took it up a neck ahead of West Gone Black, Autograph and Judge Roy were racing together 2 lengths off the leaders with Show Time, Louder Than Bombs and Bad Bwoy all in a handy position. Secret Beast was racing all alone mid-pack with about 9 lengths to make up with Rumblin Ryan, Furstin, Melchizedech and Tropic Lightning at the rear of the field over a dozen lengths off the leader.Into the final furlong The Backstabber had bounded 1/2 a length clear of West Gone Black and was galloping strongly, Who Time, Judge Roy and Autograph could not keep up the pace and were starting to drop back while the early trailers Rumblin Ryan, Furstin and Tropic Lightning were now looking to make up ground - Tropic Lightning had been hooked to the outside and was starting to move up smartly with Furstin on his inside and Rumblin Ryan looking full of running but with a wall of horses dropping back on him. With 40 metres to race, The Backstabber was traveling strongly up front with Furstin and Tropic Lightning looking dangerous on the outside. West Gone Black was now outpaced and could not keep up but Jack Ford had somehow weaved Rumblin Ryan through the traffic and he burst through with a powerful finish to get up on the line ahead of a game The Backstabber and fast finisher Furstin back in 3rd. Tropic Lightning flew up late to snatch 4th ahead of West Gone Black in 5th.Congratulations to Jekegr Stables on his first Championship Trophy! Results
