Juvenile Classic Championship - Colts - Dubai 2400 Muddy

With this season's Classic Championship over 2400 Metres, half of the field has been rendered useless as they simply don't stay the 2400 Metre trip. Looking over the qualifiers there are several trainers who sold themselves short and aimed for the consolation - in my opinion, some of the consolation runners would have a massive chance to bag a chunk of the $3,000 purse but having said that, it leaves the purse to a handful of shrewd trainers who placed their horses in what looks like a relatively weak classic Championship event.

On form, Cotton Club looks like he has a big shout with three qualifier wins under his belt, but he will need some luck in the running to hold off the main challengers Priscus Of Rome and Silent And Deadly. Priscus Of Rome is a top class horse with very solid form on mud - his only downfall is that he may find the 2400 trip a little short and one would expect him to be running a tad unfit in preparation for the Stayers champ the next day. This brings in the ultra consistent Silent And Deadly who is perfectly course and distance suited but who looks to be a sliver below the best here - this shrewd auction bargain is sure to challenge should he pick up a jock on the day.

Of the others, Secret Smash is top class but not best on muddy, Apache Chant was a qualifier winner over the course and distance and could certainly upset while Golden Halo and Pelizotti both have solid 2400 form and could surprise us all.

The selection is Cotton Club to continue his run of luck with Priscus Of Rome and Silent And Deadly chasing him hard for the minor money - big upset chance to Apache Chant.

Juvenile Classic Championship - Fillies - England 2400 Soft

Like the Colts Classic, several of the fillies in the standings have been nullified by the 2400 Metre distance, however, interestingly enough it seems that the two sprint fillies Mass Deception and Spectacular Liz are indeed competitive over the 2400 trip providing they get a decent ride.

We were lucky enough to see a "dress rehearsal" of sorts when many of these fillies met over UK 2400 Soft in a qualifier and I think that qualifier is the key to this race. Evil Racing has had an incredible season with the filly he regards as the best he has owned - Countess Bathory won the dress rehearsal race narrowly from Domination's End with West Of The Pecos just over a length back in third. On that form it is almost impossible to separate these three and I think all three of them will be in the firing line.

Whymea Farms saddles Mass Deception in this race and while he will be more confident about the Sprint Championship with this filly, I feel he has a better shot in the Classic albeit over 2400 Metres - in her only test over 2400, this 18-time winner surprised us all by winning the Qualifier from West Of The Pecos and Domination's End with Annie's Antagonist and Spectacular Liz further back.

My selection for this race is Mass Deception to win it from West Of The Pecos, Countess Bathory and Domination's End - don't discount Spectacular Liz, as she is a top class filly and will be right there with some luck in the running.
