BIGBOB'S JUVENILE SPRINT-COLTS PREVIEW
Distance 1400 Track America- MuddyJefcain made a big mid-season purchase of Noisy Boy. This tough colt shows wins at 1400 on both a fast and muddy surface and will be tough to beat regardless of the surface in the finals. Although the renowned AP822 Stable sold many top contenders in auctios this season, the stable held onto AP Jack Hammer. He won a qualifier at this distance on a muddy track and would be dangerous if the track comes up wet, although he can handle a fast track too. Primetime Stables has a serious threat in its quest for its first championship in Pt Alter Ego. This outstanding colt shows wins at several distances, including 1400, and on virtually any surface. He seems to really like the mud and if the final is on a muddy track, he could win it all with some racing luck. The Mad Russian's The Viktor(RUS) is another sleeper with good races at the distance. He can run on either a fast or muddy track, and TMR hopes that with some racing luck, The Viktor can bring home his first championship.Black Lotus has three solid runners in the finals, with AP War Machine, AP Straight Edge, and The Setting Trick. "The Machine" likes the distance and has good efforts on both a fast and muddy track. He is a solid contender. The Setting Trick also has good efforts at the distance including a big 2nd in a qualifier in the mud. AP Straight Edge loves the distance and the mud. This entry will be very dangerous on an off track!Karl Khoder's Diamond Earth has had a good season and has shown that he can run the distance. Although he shows good races on both fast and muddy tracks, an off track would appear to be his best chance to grab a share of the money. Filante Stable's French Sun seems to prefer the 1600 distance to the finals' distance. An off track would be his best chance to come in the money. Al Adnan's Fiery Ananda has a couple of good races in qualifiers, but both were at 1200. He does not show any top efforts at today's distance. Maple Leaf Farms has a good two horse entry. Hello City has a nice win in a qualifier at 1600 on a fast track, but is another horse that does not show top efforts at 1400. Apollo's Anvil also seems to prefer 1200 over 1400 and it would be a surprise to see him contend.Dime a Dozen's Delta Griffin has had a very solid season and shows good efforts on a fast and muddy track. He likes today's distance and could grab a share. But he does not seem like a contender for the top spot. Bigbob's Bob's Chief snuck into the finals with a 3rd at this distance in the mud in the last qualifier. His only chance for a minor share is a lot of luck and if a monsoon hits during the finals. RACE ANALYSISIt will definitely be a wide open final, and a great beginning to the Championship Races. Virtually every horse in the race likes an off track, and all of the top contenders show good efforts on the surface. Noisy Boy has had a solid season, and The Viktor(RUS) certainly shows some excellent efforts in the mud. It would not be a surprise to see either of them grab the top spot. There are quite a few horses like AP Straight Edge, The Setting Trick and Diamond Earth, who look like they could be in the hunt with some good racing luck. But the 3 best horses in the race at this distance, in the slop appear, to be AP Jack Hammer, Pt Alter Ego, and AP War Machine. All three appear to excel at the distance and the conditions. With so many horses liking the mud its a tough race to call, but I am picking AP Jack Hammer to win it all with AP War Machine as my 2nd choice. Good luck to all. Bob
