Bigbob previews Digiturf.com's upcoming Championships!

Distance 2400 Track England Yielding

Filante's The Red Devil Won a Classic Qualifier and a Belmont Qualifier at this distance on a fast track. He would be favored with a firm turf course.

Tockyocky Racing is loaded with a 4 horse entry in the finals. Toc Hells Kitchen won the Belmont Stakes and won a qualifier on a firm surface. He will be tough to handle if the track comes up firm or good. Toc Metal Jacket is a talented horse whose best efforts appear to be on the dirt, but shows some excellent efforts on a yielding turf course. Turbo Returns had a big 2nd on the distance on a firm turf course. He needs that surface to contend. Toc Prince Robert's best efforts are on a yielding turf course. If he gets his preferred surface he could get a piece of the purse..

Jakobstars' Baby Star ran 2nd at the distance in the Belmont Final. This versatile colt can run well on just about any surface and is certainly a contender.

Chrisman has a two horse entry in the finals. Hombre Del Hierro has been a tough Hombre all season. If the track is yielding he would be my upset pick. He could also be a big factor on a soft track. Dazinski (GB) has a nice 2nd at the distance, but all of his best efforts have been on a fast track.

Evil Racing Ltd made a nice mid-season purchase in Rooster's Rescue. He can handle the distance and shows excellent efforts this season on a variety of surfaces. He is a sleeper who could surprise with some racing luck. Al Adnan's Second Guess has some very nice races at this distance on firm and good surfaces and is another that could surprise if he gets the track that he wants.

Maple Leaf Farms' Freak Turbulence is a nice horse who prefers shorter distances and a muddy track. He would be a surprise if he contended in the finals.

Karl Khoder's Benediction has a 3rd at the distance. But that was on a fast track. He does not show a big race on the turf this season.

Stud Indian Joe's Pirilampo Do Ro has two nice efforts on a yielding turf course this season. But both have been at shorter distances.

Colwells End's The Londoner made the finals thanks to a big win in the season's last qualifier. Although that was on a fast track, he shows some run on a firm turf course and could grab a share if the turf is dry.

RACE ANALYSIS

This race has longshot written all over it. The big favorites, The Red Devil and Toc Hell's Kitchen don't show any top efforts on a yielding turf course and would have to run lifetime bests on those surfaces to contend. Baby Star shows handling many surfaces, but his top efforts have not been on a yielding track either.

Most of the other horses do not show being able to handle the distance or the surface.

Pirilampo Do Ro prefers a shorter distance but likes a yielding turf course. Rooster's Rescue also shows being able to handle the surface. Both have a chance to be in-the-money, although they do not look like contenders for the top spot.

Hombre Del Hierro likes the distance and can handle the surface. The #14 post position makes it tough to pick him for the top spot, but he certainly could win it all.

Toc Metal Jacket and Toc Prince Robert both show that they can handle the distance and have good efforts on a yielding turf course. Either one can win. Robert has the advantage of the #1 post position, while Metal Jacket appears to be the better horse. My lukewarm choice in this race is Toc Metal Jacket.

Good luck to all. Bob
