Digiturf.com is proud to sponsor the virtual Olympics 2012 for both the horse racing community and also fans of the 2012 Summer Olympic Games, which are being hosted in London, United Kingdom, from 27 July to 12 August 2012.
While we’re aware of the unsettling relationship between the origins of the Olympics and Greeks bearing gifts in the virtual horse racing community the Race Programmer and the DEV team have gone to great pains to ensure that there will be no Trojan horses, computer viruses or erratic randoms that could derail the virtual Olympics 2012. The Race Programmer has dedicated US$3,150.00 total sponsorships to the virtual Olympics 2012 WFA (Weight For Age) races. These WFA races are perfect for horses of all ages - this season and the next. All horses eligible for the WFA races next season can be entered into the Olympics 2012 even ahead of their age change.
This is where is where the eligibility gets a bit technical because the Olympics 2012 have been scheduled from 27 July to 12 August 2012.
All current 2-7Y horses can enter the Olympics 2012 WFA races from 27 – 31 July 2012.
All current 2-6Y horses can enter the Olympics 2012 WFA races from 27 – 31 July 2012.
As all 7Y horses will be retired on the 1 August 2012 they will not be eligible to compete next season.
Yearlings are currently ineligible to enter next season’s races until the new season when they turn 2 years old.
A few more points worth considering is that all the super competitive horses will be competing in the Championship Series, which allows you to enter your WFA contenders into some seriously competitive horse races where the fields are open to the best runners as the Championship Series contenders battle it out in their finals and consolation races. Next season’s strongest yearlings will also be tied up in their Maiden Championship races. Don’t expect the Olympics 2012 races to be easy races because you’re still facing the best of the best across all age groups who are all equally determined to win as many races and as much of those sponsorships as possible. Part of the challenge of winning the Olympics 2012 is rising up against the competition and leaving them behind in your wake. Not that we want to reference Trojan horses again in the Olympics 2012 but this is where your horses should be making driftwood of the competition.
Why is Digiturf.com hosting the virtual Olympics 2012 besides the fact that the virtual horse racing community is a big fan?
It doesn’t matter if you’re a bigger fan of any of the Olympic 2012 events; be it archery, badminton, basketball, beach volleyball, boxing, canoe / kayak, cycling, diving, equestrian, fencing, field hockey, gymnastics, handball, judo, modern pentathlon, rowing, sailing, shooting, soccer / football, swimming, synchronized swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, track and field, triathlon, volleyball, water polo, weightlifting or wrestling, because the same skills required to compete in any of those sports at an Olympic level are the same skills required to compete in Digiturf.com’s virtual Olympics 2012 races.
Your horses need the stamina, strength, speed, agility and endurance to compete in any of those Olympics 2012 races. And let’s not overlook the grace required to make winning those races look effortless despite the training and discipline required to prepare for them. We might appreciate the gracefulness of a virtual horse but when it comes to winning races we’d settle for guts and glory and flat-out racing but the Olympic horse needs to embody all the virtues of the Olympics and more.
The Race Programmer’s wife, Mrs. Race Programmer, a formidable woman in her own right, says that, “According to legend, the Olympic Games were founded by Hercules, son of Zeus. The Olympics 2012 races aren’t for mere “virtuals”, they’re for virtual thoroughbreds that are only available from Digiturf.com’s Sales Ring, because only Digiturf.com’s Sales Ring can produce real thoroughbreds strong enough to compete in the virtual Olympics 2012 races!” (Apologies to the creators of ‘300’ for using that line so badly!)
You have no reason to be shy, nor apologise, for entering Digiturf.com’s virtual Olympics 2012 races. They’re the most prestigious and competitive races that attract horses of all ages to compete against each other for the distinction of winning an Olympic title and reaping the rewards that follow.
